Privately owned enterprises to put devices on the surface of the Moon have been competing over a prize, the Google Lunar X-Prize. There are five competitors left in the race. The aim is to leave Earth no later than the 31 December.
I am looking forward to seeing the result of this race. It may be the first step towards true colonisation of the Moon. Humans need to go back there sometime. Dogs also need to go there. It is the stepping stone into further travels out into space. Unless we destroy ourselves or our civilisation, we will expand to other celestial bodies. We do not know why, but I hope it will happen sooner rather than later.
Let's go to the Moon!
