Candidature

Daniel is a member of the city council of Örebro. We are proud of this.

Tonight, the political party where both Paula and Daniel are members decided who will be candidates for the city council in the election this autumn, for another four year period. It was decided that Daniel will, once again, get a prominent place as a candidate. It is a place which makes it almost guaranteed that he will be elected. The voters have the final call on the election day, but it must be a catastrophic election if Daniel will not be elected. He was satisfied, and so were we.

We will certainly be able to still be proud of Daniel for being a member of the city council next term. This is good.

Swedish Gold

We watched the final game of the European Championship in handball tonight. Sweden played against Spain. It was a very exciting game, very close to the very end, but Sweden won with the odd goal.

Sweden is the European Champion in handball! Life is good.

Peanut was sad that England did not make it to the final. England has never been good at handball, but Peanut said he wished they were, anyway. I can understand that. Handball is an exciting sport, I understand it if Peanut would want his native England to be good at it.

Rain In the Winter

We had temperatures a little above the freezing point today. This caused it to rain, not to snow. This is not fun in January. I want thick snow to jump around in.

We have to hope it will be colder and more snow in February.

Final

European Championship in handball is played now. Sweden got to the semi finals and narrowly beat France, 34-33. It was great! Now we can hope for gold. Sweden was great at handball in the 1990’s, it can be again.

Holocaust Remembrance Day

The 27 January is an important day of remembrance. It is when we remind ourselves of the worst genocide in human history, the Holocaust, in Nazi Germany during the Second World War. A few other genocides have caused more humans to die, but no other genocide has been so elaborated, so cynical, so set on an ultimate goal of killing so many people. A few humans lived to tell. Let us remember all the victims and the witnesses. May nothing like this ever happen again.

Football World Cup Every Two Years?

Apparently, there is a debate in FIFA on changing the World Cup from being held every four years to every two years (see the second to last paragraph)

This would mean dogs could see more World Cups in their relatively short lives. Dogs are generally not that interested in the World Cup, however, even though we like playing with footballs. I think the World Cups would be less exclusive if played more often. It would still not have to be a bad thing. Many humans like watching World Cups and would like to see them more often. A lot of other big tournaments are played more often than the World Cup, often annually. We will have to see if changes are made when planning for the World Cups after 2026. Perhaps I will not live to know.

Evening Walk

This evening, Paula, Daniel, Peanut, and I took a long walk. We usually do not take long walks in the evenings. What was even more special was that Paula came along for the walk. I liked this. I love Paula, so walks are always better when she comes along.

Daniel, Peanut, and I usually walks faster than Paula usually does, but we kept her pace. This was something I gladly did to make Paula comfortable with coming along. I hope this will be a new habit of hers.

Sold a Car

Paula sold her car today. She will miss it, but has not enough use for it to justify the costs. The higher petrol prices do not help, either. She said she might buy another car when circumstances change, maybe  an electric car. We are looking forward to this. Paula ended the day celebrating that she sold the car in a manner that pleased her.

A Question of Inheritance

There are days when I lack inspiration to write anything in this blog. For the memory of my late mother Hailey, who started it, I always want to write something anyway. I inherited the blog from her, but I am not sure who will inherit it from me. I want it to be someone who lives with me, so I can teach her, and I want it to be a decendant of me, or at least of my mother. None of the dogs who live with us today fit the latter category. My daughters live elsewhere, so does my only granddaughter. I guess I will be able to continue to blog for a few years, so this lack of an heir may be solved in the years to come. I hope so. We will have to wait and see. Meanwhile, I will carry on.

Tsunami Caused Oil Spill

The recent tsunami in the Pacific Ocean, occuring due to the volcano near Tonga, hit the Peruvian coast and caused an oil spill of 6,000 barrels. This has been described as the worst ecological disaster in Peru in recent history. Many volunteers work to take care of the oil spill. The Peruvian government demands damages from the oil company whose oil was spilled.

When a tsunami hit Japan in 2011 it caused the Fukushima nuclear power plant to shut down. This prompted Germany to speed up its ”Energiewende” and start to close down all of its nuclear power plants prematurely. We will have to see if the oil spill caused by a tsunami will prompt Germany to close down all of its burning of oil prematurely.

Meat Loaf

Meat diades are always tasty. One of the meat dishes I like is meat loaf.

Then they said on the radio today that meat loaf had passed away. It turned out to be the American rock singer Marvin Lee Aday, commonly known under his stage name Meat Loaf. I cannot say I have had the same love for Meat Loaf music as I have for meat loaf dinners. It is still sad to hear about a human who is not with us anymore. If he had dogs, I wish they will be alright with the rest of his family.

Rain

Yesterday evening, it was raining in our kitchen. Do not get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with our roof. It is just that we had grated cheese, and there was a rain of grated cheese in the kitchen. All of us dogs liked this treat.

I just wish there would also be a rain of grated cheese this evening as well.

Victory

Paula was critizised at work, and the case went to a government authority with oversight over the kind of work she do. Today, this government authority gave us our decision. Paula was cleared on all accounts.

We celebrate this victory tonight. It was expected, but, nevertheless, a victory.

Paula is the best.

Fire Hazard Control

We had a visitor from the fire department today, overseeing our fire place and chimney. This is a special service to ensure our fire place is fire proof, so to say. It turned out our fire place and our chimney are safe. This is good. We can continue to use it without risk. Our house will stay warm.

Online Meetings

When Daniel works from home, he often has online meetings. He talks to other humans through his computer.

Today, Paula had an online meeting from home as well. She was a little nervous about the technology. It did work out perfectly for Paula, though, but not for one of the other participants of the meeting. Paula could never see the picture of that participant, neither could the third participant. Over all, the meeting went well, anyhow. Paula was happy afterwards. This was good.

I wonder how dogs could have online meetings. How could we identify each other, when there is no way to smell each other online?

Some Work for the Kennel Club

Paula asked Daniel what he was doing on a Sunday morning in front of his computer. He was not working for his employer, however, but for the regional kennel club, where he is a member of the board. Paula liked this answer. So did I. Work for the kennel club is important for both dogs and humans, and in the long run it is important for the breeding of dogs. This is time well spent.

Viola and the Vacuum Cleaner

Daniel was vacuum cleaning the floors today. The vacuum cleaner is noisy, but to our Chihuhua friend Viola, it is worked than this. She is afraid of the vacuum cleaner, hiding from it. You never know what irrational fears you may have.

Viola felt less embarassed for being afraid, when our cat friend Malin also fled the vacuum cleaner. Viola asked Malin if they would start a club. Cats are independent creatures, however, so Malin, ever so politely, turned the offer down. They did strengthen each other, but Malin did not want a club. The strengthened spirits are good enough, I believe. It turned out good.

A Short Trip to the Office

Daniel is mostly working from home these days. With the pandemic, his employer recommends the employees to work from home, if they can.

Early this afternoon, Daniel suddenly said he had to go to the office for a while. I believe he had to mail a letter the old fashioned way with papers in an envelope. He took the bicycle and rode away. Before we knew it, however, he was back home again. When Daniel goes to the office, he is usually there for at least half a day. This time, he came back home in little more than an hour. I guess the thing he had to do at the office went swiftly, no matter how important it was. As usual, it was good to have him back home again. He did continue to work from home for a while, but this is better than when he is at the office. It was a good day.

Last Day of Christmas

In Sweden, the twentieth day of Christmas is also the last. Paula and Daniel have removed all of the Christmas ornaments etc. in our house. They will return when the next Christmas is approaching.

We have some electric candles that we leave on throughout the nights before and during Christmas. This helps on the darkest weeks of the year. The days are now getting longer, but we will not have any night lights on. Perhaps we can sleep better, but it will be a little more difficult getting up in the mornings. On the other paw, when Christmas is over, you should remove these lights. The nights will be nice, nevertheless.

Minced Meat Again

When Daniel were grocery shopping today, he bought fresh minced meat. All of us dogs got to taste some.

There is nothing tastier than fresh, raw meat. With minced meat, you never have to make an effort when chewing it. I do not think anobody could invent anything better to eat.

It was a great evening.

Next Season of Formula 1

Apparently, seven times World Champion in Formula 1, Lewis Hamilton, has not yet decided whether to race next season. He is said to be too disappointed with kosing his eighth titelvinnande the final lapa of the last race of last year. If he decides not to race next year, Some may think he would be a sore loser, if this is indeed the reason. Nevertheless, he actually has nothing more to prove. Going out now may be the best thing, to go out as Championship second and with a lot of records. He would end on top, even though not a reigning champion.

We will have to see what happens.

Ordinary Days Again

It is Monday in the first week since Christmas Day without any extra holidays. Life is returning to the, somewhat, normal. Daniel still spent almost all of his day at home. With the covid-19 pandemic still out there, people with office jobs such as his are recommended to work from home. This meant that he could pet me simultaneously with reading mails and documents on his computer. This suits both of us well. Life can be good even on a workday.

New Brand of Dog Food

We have a new brand of dog food. It is really tasty.

In part, I guess it is the fact that it is new that appeals to me. It is still very tasty in its own right, I believe.

You might wonder what brand of dog food it is. I will not tell you, because I have no sponsorship agreement with the manufacturer or any dealer. You just have to make a guess. If your guess is right, I may tell you so.

May you all have tasty food today!

Staying At Home

Paula and Daniel had though of going away to visit some friends today. In the end, they did not. Paula did not feel well, so they stayed at home. In the evening, Daniel cooked some meat sauce and gave us dogs each a tasty bit of the minced meat.

I think it turned out to be a fantastic day. Nevertheless, I am sorry for Paula and Daniel, who had looked forward to seeing their friends, and to Paula, for not feeling well. They were glad that all of us dogs were glad, however.

Snow Fall

Snow is falling this evening. Daniel looked at the weather forecast and said snow would continue to fall all evening. He then said he would not showel any snow until tomorrow morning. I can understand this. It is not of much use to take snow away, if you know more snow will come, nevertheless. Daniel has his bright moments.

The Original Christmas Gifts

On this, the thriteenth day of Christmas, we celebrate that wise men came to the baby Jesus and gave him gifts. These are supposed to have been the very first Christmas presents.

We got our Christmas presents on Christmas Eve. This is tradition in Sweden, but I know traditions vary over the year. I would not have been displeased with getting some gifts today, too, though. You cannot have that, however, I suppose. It has been a nice holiday, anyway.

Different Opinions On Meat Sauce

One of the greatest inventions of humans is meat sauce. Meat is always great. Eating meat made to a sauce is even better, because it is easier to eat, but still meat.

Daniel made meat sauce for dinner tonight. He liked it. Paula did not. Paula said the pasta was over cooked and that the meat sauce had too much garlic. Daniel liked his meat sauce and was not that annoyed about the pasta. I have to support Paula, however. It is important that pasta is well cooked. Meat sauce must not have too many spices. Meat should have the taste of meat. Still, I think Daniel did not do a bad job. The pieces I tasted were good. Life is good.

Pizza

We got pizza to our food today. Pizza is great food. The toppings are the best, especially if they consist of meat. The cheese is great as well.

It is always good not only to get dog food. It gives great changes to life. Pizza is a great change, when we get it. Life was good today.

Going By Bus

Paula went by bus to the centre of the city today. This was odd. She would usually go by car, driving herself or driven by Daniel. Nevertheless, everything went well. Paula came home by bus as well. She had had a fine trip. She might do the same again. We will have to see what happens.

A Rain More Annoying Than Usual

We had this kind of rain today with small, small drops. It was not a heavy rain, but still annoying. These drops seep in where you do not want them.

This time of the year, I would rather have snow.

Sumatran Tiger Cub

The Sumatran tiger is a very endangered species. At a London zoo, there is a newborn cub of this species. The birth was recorded by a camera.

I congratulate the mother and the cub. As a mother myself, I know what feelings the tiger mother must have. Still, I wish she would have had the opportunity to give birth without being spied upon. I would not have wanted Paula or Daniel to make a film when I gave birth to my pups.
