Fifty Years Since Apollo 1
Fifty years ago, the Lunar space craft later named Apollo 1 burst into flames. I t stood on the ground with three astronauts on board, Virgil Grissom, Roger Chaffee, and Ed White. The astronauts died. The reason behind the fire has never been fully understood, but later Apollo space craft were made much safer. The three astronauts did not die in vain. They are part of the history behind the first time humans walked on the Moon. Let us remember them.
