The Shortest Day

This is the shortest day of the year.

You could say the winter solstice is shorter. If you count the hours when the Sun is in the sky, this is correct. However, if you count the total number of hours from midnight to midnight, the winter solstice has 24 hours, while we have 23 hours today. This is because we change to Daylight Saving Time today.

I cannot see the point of Daylight Saving Time. Humans may understand it better. They are the ones who care about the clock. I just know it will be dark again in the morning tomorrow. This does not feel nice, but we live with it, because our humans do.
