Sworn in Again
The US president is sworn in again, for a second term of four years. He cannot have another term. This does not do much for continuity. Compare Japan, where the current Emperor have reigned since 1989, Sweden, where the current King has reigned since 1973, or the UK, where the current Queen has reigned since 1952. This is continuity.
