Solar Flares

The Sun is throwing solar flares towards Earth, which will peak tomorrow. This may cause disruptions on communications. I wonder what would happen if there was a solar eclipse at the same time? Would it keep much of the effects of the flare away from Earth? Perhaps not for long, an eclipse usually does not last very long. It would be interesting if these events would coincide, though.
