Easter Celebration

We got extra treats for food today. It was part of our Easter celebration. Eating good food is the best form of celebration there is.

We did not get the treats in Easter eggs. There is no need for Easter eggs, I believe. Why enclose candy in cardboard eggs, instead of just serving it as it is? I appreciate it more without the Easter eggs, anyway.

Over all, we had a good Easter Eve. Then we have Easter Day tomorrow. The celebration will continue.

Good Friday

It is Good Friday, when we remember the torment and execution of Jesus Christ. It is supposed to be boring, to fuel the thoughts. Well, today was not that boring. We considered Christ anyway. It was a good day.

Time and Clocks

I wondered why it was not dark het outside. Then I remembered the humans turned their watches one jour last Sunday. It is called daylight saving time. You turn the fingers of the watches one hour, to pretend that it will be more daylight in the evening. You get less daylight in the morning. It is weird, and then they say humans are the most intelligent species in Earth. Daylight savings time says they are not.

Music Therapy for Dogs

In Madrid, Spain, police dogs get music therapy in their spare time. Their jobs can be very stressful from time to time. It is important to help these dogs relax. They may have to be on calm at a moment’s notice, at which time they have to be allert.

Scientific studies have found that clasical music can help dogs relax. I could have told you the same without the need for scientific studies. Music triggers emotions, a lot of music can help you relax.

I think this is a good initiative. Police dogs do so much good for society, that they deserve special treatment.

Dragé Eggs

We have a candy factory in Sweden called Cloetta. Around Easter, they make candy eggs called Dragé eggs. These are sweet and really tasty. Daniel has bought some, so we had such eggs after dinner tonight. It makes you love Easter, even before the real Easter celebrations this weekend. I would want more Dragé eggs.

Dogs Working Against Smugglers of Historical Artefacts

There is a new way for dogs to contribute to Society. Five dogs have been trained in Pennsylvania to detect ancient pottery. This way, they can work with the customs and detect hidden artefacts that people try to smuggle.

I am always glad tohear about news like this. It proves how important dogs are in the civilisation that we share with the humans. Preserving history like this is great.

First Race of the Formula 1 Season

It was the premiere of the 2018 Formula 1 season today. It was the Australian Grand Prix, as is tradition, and it was aired live in Sweden early in the morning. We misses the start, because we were to tried, but then it was a good race. It may very well be a close and exciting season, This is good.

Hail

It has been that today, but we actually had a little hail this morning. Hail is rare, so I guess this was the most memorabel thing that happened today. Otherwise, we just had a calm Saturday.

Shrimps

We had shrimp sandwichens for dinner today. Actually, Paula and Daniel had, but I got to taste some. Shrimps are always tasty. It was a good dinner. I with we could have it more often.

Insomnia

We slept with Daniel in the night, when Paula was at work. Then Paula came home, and we would sleep with her in the day.

Keeping humans company when they sleep is a dog specialty. You can always count on dogs to provide this service.

This day, however, Paula suffered from insomnia. This made it harder for us dogs to rest and sleep as well. I felt so sorry for Paula, she had been up all night working, then could not sleep. I believe we could comfort her to some extent, though. It may be better tomorrow.

Sudden Outburst

Our Poodle friend Laila is a nice dog. Sometimes, however, Ihave to wonder what she is thinking. She can burst out barking for no reason at all, as far as the rest of us can tell. She never tells us why. Fortunately, she does not do this often, but she did it all of a sudden late tonight. It was no fun. Ihopa we get a calm night from now on.

Scandal

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has admitted that the company has made faults, in connection with The company Cambridge Analytica, which has sold personal data from Facebook users. Things will now charge with the company.

This does not affekt me personally. Inavel never had a Facebook account. Paula and Daniel have accounts on Facebook, however. I am glad for their sake, if this scandal results in better protection of personal data for Facebook users. It seems like it is necessary.

Spring Equinox

We are half way between midwinter and midsummer. The days keep getting longer and the nigits shorter. I like tohave daylight during the morning walks. Now all we need is for the snow to melt, and spring will be here. We will have to see how long it will take. Winter may last until May, even though this is rare. I hope spring will come sonner than that.

Tenn

Paula and Daniel got some pictures of Tenn today. Tenn and I were friends, when Tenn lived here. She now has her own family of humans and live a good life with them. I can understand that she wanted to be the top dog, like I am here. I still miss the mature conversations Tenn and I could have.

Best of Breed Puppy

Hello, Li`l Gertrud here again!

The dog show was quite fun. It took some time before I got to go into the ring, but it was fun in there. I won Best of Breed Puppy. Then it took even more time before I got to get back into the ring to compete in the puppy final. We had a good time at ringside, though. We took it easy, had some snacks, and talked and cuddled a little. It was a nice experience. I think I want to go to more dog shows. Granny was right, it is fun.

No Training

Hello, Li`l Gertrud here!

We were supposed to engage in more training tonight, for the dog show tomorrow. It never Cameron about. Daniel was away with the car on a meeting all afternoon. Apparently, it was an manual meeting for the Swedish Spitz Breed Club, so it was important to attend to it. We will train tomorrow morning instead. I am not nervous.

Training

Hello, Li’l Gertrud here!

Daniel and I went to see my puppa friend Otto and hos humans tonight. We had a training session for a dog show this weekend. It was fun seeingOttoagain, and hus humans, who are very nice people. The training was less fun, but Daniel Said I did well.

Granny Hailey tells me dog shows are the best events in life. My first dog show will be the show this weekend. It remains to see whether I agree with Granny or not.

Languages

My Mum taught me English. She was bort and raised in America, where they speak English. Dad`s nativt language was Norwegian, but I never learned much of it. In Sweden, Norwegians like Dad often speak a mix of Norwegian and Swedish. Dogs also learn much more from their mothers than from their fathers. English is my second language, after Swedish. It is an international language, this is why I use it in my blog. I think English will be the language of everyone who emigrates to other celestial bodies, dogs and humans alike. Dogs who will live a century from now will know. I with I knew, but my life is here and now, and it is good enough. Life is good as it is.

Ice Cream

This was a good day. I got a big portion of cookie dough ice cream. Do I need to explain why this made my day great? I would not think so.

Beside the ice cream, spring is on its way. The Sun was shining and the snow was melting. Sunshine always boosts my mood. I guess it does for most of us. Life is good.

Giant Moon Sculpture

A sculpture of the Moon, 7 meters wide and with a really detailed representation of the Moon`s surface, would be something to watch. It has been displayed on many placera in the world, currently in the Leicester cathedral to honor science week.

I would love to see a sculpture like this. The Moon has always fascinated me, party because my officiellt name is Lunar Eclips. Seeing a 7 meter sculpture would be like coming close to the real Moon. It would be the second best thing, I believe, and easier to do. Perhaps this sculpture will one day be displayed in Sweden. If this happens, I would want to go see it.

Long Gone Flyer`s Bones?

New research has found that there is about a 99 % probability that bones found on a remote island in the Pacific Ocean in 1940 was those of Amelia Earhart, a flyer who went missing over the Pacific Ocean when trying to circumnavigate the Earth by air in 1937.

It is interesting to know that the old mystery of what happened to Amelia Earhart has probably been solved. All mysteries cannot be solved, but it is great that some mysteries are. The only downside is that some speculative fiction dealing with the fate of Amelia Earhart is now clearly wrong. I guess this is the risk you always take, when trying to write storkens about real life mysteries. The fiction may be great, nevertheless.

Qualification Round

The final instalment in the Swedish qualification round for the European qualifications for the Eurovision Song Contest was held tonight. I hoped a good song would win, but it did not. We will have to see what countries there are to root for in the final Contest.

Parliament?

Daniel visited the Swedish Parliament today. He is a candidate in the general election this autumn. I am not sure I want him to be elected, it would mean he would be away from home a little more than now. We will see what happens.

More Snow

We have had snow and cold days for a while now. More snow fell today, many centimetres. It is not odd to have snowfall in March, but given the mild westher in December and January, it still feels a little odd. We will have to wait for a while longer until spring will come.

Oldest Message in a Bottle

The oldest message in a bottle ever to have been found, has recently been found in Western Australia. It was a bottle from a German ship travelling the Indian Ocean 132 years ago. The really nice thing about the German ship was its name, it was called Paula.

Moomin Sheets

Hello, Orange here!

Once again, we have got Moomin sheets in the bed. Paula and Daniel bought some a few week ago, this is the second time we use them. Moomin and all the other characters in Moomin Valley are nice and the sheets have a nice design. I hope we can keep and use these sheets for a long time to come.

Animals Not Allowed

There are a lot of rules surrounding the Eurovision Song Contest. A human can compete for any country, the only limitation is that you cannot compete for more than one country per year. A dog, however, cannot compete at all. There is a rule that forbids animals on stage. I can understand this rule, when it comes to wild animals, but how could a dog on stage be wrong?

Dogs have been part of human civilisation for many millenia. We often perform in front of humans, such as in dog shows, freestyle, agility, etc. Many dogs like to perform. Many dogs like music.

It is not that I would want to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest myself. I am content with my success in the dog show rings. However, I do believe dogs could make a nice contribution to the show. Perhaps the rules should be changed?

In Almby

Hello, Li`l Gertrud here!

This afternoon, I went with Paula and Daniel to a part of town called Almby. We visiten a family there, who are interested in getting a Shiba. I did mybest to be a good representative of the bred and our kennel. This was East, because they were very nice people. I believe a Shiba would have a great life with them. It Wasa pleasant experience.

Wristwatch

Daniel got mad this morning. He could not find his wristwatch. It was not our fault he had put the watch in a different place to where he usually put it.

Japanese ISO Symbols

Japan has the most advanced toilets in the world. They have electric gadgets to hela the humans using them. I am not sure why this would be necessary, but what do I know, I just utse the outdoors.

The different toilet makers in Japan has agreed upon a standard for the symbols for functions on these advanced toilets. This standard has not been accepted as an ISO standard. I am glad it has, it is nice to know some ISO standard has Japanese origins, even though it deals with something so odd as advanced toilets.

I wonder if the buttons on these toilets could be operanden by a dog.
