Paula Is Back Home

Paula came back home from her trip to the mountains this afternoon. We had all been waiting for her. Now life can return to normal.

The normal life is when all of us dogs and both our humans Paula and Daniel are at home most of the time every day. It is easier to relax, when thisis the case. Life has been good this week, even though Paula has been away, but it is better now. We love Paula. Welcome home, Paula!

Six Nations

There was a rugby game on TV tonight. England played Wales in the traditional Six Nations tournament. I have never been very interested in rugby. In the World Cup, I root for Japan, but Six Nations are England, France, Ireland, Italy, Scotland, and Wales. Peanut is from England, and he roots for England, of course. Because of this, I also hope for England.

By half time, Wales was in the lead 17-14, so it was not an easy game. By 62:29, the game was tied, 24-24. England did not score any more points, however, but Wales did. Wales eventually won by 40-24. Peanut was sad. I felt sorry for him. It may be better in other games, though.

Almost No Snow Left

It has been outside temperatures above the freezing point for most of the week. There is almost no snow left. We had a few weeks in a row with snow and really cold temperatures, but I would have wanted deeper snow and a longer winter. Spring is too early, if it starts in February. Perhaps there will be a backlash with more winter days, but I doubt it. I guess we have to hope for more snow next season.

Trouble With Dog Food

Daniel had purchased some frozen dog food and let it thaw in the kitchen. Then he would portion it out to smaller containers to fit in the freezer. He failed with some, getting it on his clothes and on the floor. Most was saved, though. It looked funny when he failed. If dogs could laugh, maybe I would have. Daniel took it all in high spirit, whichis good.

Athletes in Odd Colours

We watched some athletics on TV, while Daniel ate his dinner. (All of us dogs had already eaten.) It was international competitions, the athletes were registered to compete for their home countries. Nevertheless, many did not wear their national colours. I guess they are sponsored by different companies or like different colours. Still, as viewers, we agreed that it would be better, had everyone competed in their national colours. Now some did, but not others, which felt strange.

Division

Our Affenpinscher friend Morran is in heat. This means the Shiba boys are getting interested. Thus, we all get separated, so nothing will happen to Morran. It cannot be easy keeping calm, when all of those scents are flying around. Divisions can be necessary sometimes.

Japanese Victory in Melbourne

It beats me why I did not write anything in the blog two days ago about the winner of the Ladies’ tournament in the Australian Open in tennis. She is Naomi Osaka, from Japan. It was her fourth Grand Slam title.

When there are no Swedes with a chance to win, I am glad there are Japanese winners. As a Shiba, with my roots in Japan, I always have a soft spot for the country. Go, Japan!

Going Away

Paula went away this morning. We hope she will have a good time with her family members in the mountains for a week. We miss her already, but Daniel is here, taking care of us. I actually prefer staying at home.

Cooking and Cooking

Paula has spent the whole day cooking. She will be going away for a week with her parents, sister, nephew, and niece, and the foodis for this week. It has been nice smells all around. We got some meat toour food as well. Even though most of the food was saved, I believe it was a good day.

Birthday

My brother Nemo and I celebrate our birthday today. I got minced meat, it was great. Birthdays are nice.

Jubilee

Twentyone years ago today, Paula and Daniel got engaged to be married. They married the year after this. Forus dogs, this is important, especially for those of us who are bred by Paula and Daniel. If it were not for them, neigher my mother, me, nor amy of my pups would have been. Javier would not either. The world would not just be different, for me, there would not be anything. It is strange to consider this. Nevertheless, I am very happy that Paula and Daniel found each other.

Carneval

It is the last day before the 40 days of lent before Easter. In Sweden, this is the first day we eat the Swedish pastry semla. It is a sweet bun with almond paste and whipped cream. Daniel tellsme that the origin of the semla is the plain bread buns you were allowed to eat during lent, where people hid more tasty things. These more tasty things evolved into almond paste and whipped cream. This is why Swedes eat semlas from today until Easter. It is a great pastry.

Spaghetti

We got some spaghetti inour food bowls today. Spaghetti is a common formof pasta, but when you thinkof it, it is actually one of the funniest forms of pasta. The long strnads of pasta are funny. I guess it is just because spaghetti is the most common form of pasta, that you do not always think of how funny it looks. Regardless of the form, it is tasty.

Valentine’s Day

This year, I was not the Valentine of any male dogs. I have had my fair share of loved ones, but not this year. My dear daughter Gerstuhl, however, has had a Valentine for a couple of weeks now. She has been visiting us, and her love Peanut has been with her. They love each other. Ilike Peanut, so this makes me happy for bothof them. Then an old lady like me does not need a Valentine of my own.

A Little Better

This week’s qualification round for the Swedish Song Contest was better than last week’s. It is not that I care much, but Paula and Daniel follow it. There was a nice looking Samoyed dog in one of the pauses between songs, however. I liked that.

Music

Paula and Daniel have their differences. They like different kind of music. This evening, they had an argument about music and what music is the best. I could not care less. To me, music is just sound. I wish they could have a discussion about more important things, like dog food.

Only You and Me

We listened to some old songs tonight. Paula played a song which is called ”Only You and Me”, bjt in Swedish. I guess it is a rather good song. Life is good, if it can be as in this song.

Planning

Paula will spend a week in the mountains with her parents, sister, nephew, and niece. She went to her parents tonight to make plans for the journey.

It might be interesting to come along, but we dogs have agreed that it is better if we stay at home with Daniel. Travels may come this summer, if there will be dog shows. Such travels will also require planning.

I hope Paula will have a nice trip.

German

We were watching a Swedish film about tourists in the Swiss Alps today. The natives were speaking German. Our Affenpinscher friend Morran says German is the best human language there is. Her breed is from Germany, so I understand she thinks so.

German is a fine language, closely related to Swedish. I still believe Japanese is the best. Swedish is good, nevertheless. German is not bad, I have to give Morran this.

Dogs have the same language all over the world. This is even better.

Stopping Adoptions

The Netherlands is stopping all international adoptions until further notice, due to a huge amount of abuses and wrongdoings over the course of many years. One of the countries childrenhave come from, where wrongdoings have happened, is Colombia. Paula and her sister were adopted from Colombia to Sweden. We do not have any evidence of wrongdoings in their case, fortunately, but the news from the Netherlands make you wonder. I hope things like this have not happened in Swedish international adoptions.

Macaroni

Hello, Gerstuhl here!

We got sausage and a lot of macaroni for food today. This was great. I love it when we get other kinds of food than the usual dog food. It is like this here at the breeders as well as at my own home in Solna. Life is good.

A Bad Qualification Round

We watched the first Swedish qualification round for the Eurovision Song Contest. There were no good songs among the seven of this qualification round.

There will be three more qualification rounds in the weeks to come. We hope for some better songs in those rounds.

Will There Be Pups?

My daughter Gerstuhl is in heat. There is now a clear and present chance that she will get pups in a couple of months. This is good, I wish to become a grandmother. It would be nice to get grandpups.

I have had many daughters. None of them has yet to have pups. This makes me sad. Gerstuhl is the youngest and in her most fertile years. This must be it. For the love of my mother Hailey and grandmother Sunni, I wish our line will continue. The hope lives.

In Full Health

Paula has been ill for quite some time. Several weeks, to be honest. She is better now. This evening, she and Daniel took Morran and Piffy and visited her sister and niece and nephew. This shows she is back in full health.

I am glad that Paula is feeling well again. She says she is not fully recovered, but that her visit this evening will help her recovery. This is great. We shall hope for the best.

Rules for Olympic Spectators

The organisers of the Tokyo Olympic Games have issued rules on how the spectators should act, in order to lower the risk of the spread of covid-19. You will be able to clap your hands, but are discouraged from chanting or singing.

This seems like a good idea. You would want to see spectators, whenyou watch the Games on TV. Rules on their conduct to lower the risk of the spread of the disease is good. We will have to see how well it will work out.

Crisps

We had some crisps late in the evening today. It was great. Crisps are a very nice form of potatoes. I wish we could have crisps more often.

Cheese

Hello, Gerstuhl here!

Life is good by my breeders. I do miss my own excellent family, but my breeders are great. They have cheese, and distributed cheese among all of the dogs today. Life is good, whenyou get cheese.
