He has also given the name to this day. We count it as the last day of Christmas in Sweden. This is originally because Canute was celebrated on the Thirteenth Day of Christmas, which is the day seen as the last day of Christmas in most countries. However, when the festivity day for Canute was moved forward one week, centuriea ago, so was the end of Christmas.
