On the 3 May 1947, the Constitution of Japan came into force. Since then, this is a Japanese holiday. The Constitution is an important part of any country, especially of free, democratic countries like Japan. This is, thus, an important day for all of us who have Japanese roots.
Few things are more important to a country than the Constitution. The national dog breeds are definitely more important, and probably the monarch, but I cannot think of anything else.
Hurrah for the Constitution today!
