Needy Cat?

Malin, our black cat, came up in the bed tonight and laid claim to Daniel's lap. I had planned to lie there.

It seems like this cat is needy, sometimes. She needs to be the one who is closest to Daniel or Paula at times.

Pepe and I let the cats be closest when they are there first. Our humans belong to them as well. We are not so needy.

Dog Theft

The parliament of Scotland has passed a new law, making the theft of dogs a more serious crime than ordinary theft.

We believe this is an improvement of the law. Dogs are more than just ordinary property. Dogs are living beings and man's best friend.

In England, a similar law has already passed, but it is about more pets and include cats. While our cats Malin and Totte vbelieve this is better, Pepe and I believe it is not as necessary. Cats are important, but far from as important as dogs.

We will have to see when a similar law is passed in Sweden. It is a step towards a better society, so it should be soon.

Rest

Daniel got up early in the morning, like he usually does on Monday mornings.

The rest of us took a day of rest. After the dog show the last weekend, we believe we needed it and deserved it.

Daniel would also have deserved a day of rest. He did not want one, though. His sense of duty is strong. This is admirable. Meanwhile, Pepeand I did our duty, to accompany Paula on her day of rest. This must also be admirable, mustn't it?

Second Day at Show

Pepe and I served at the dog show today as well. We did not need to make public relations for quite as long as yesterday, but a lot of people were very happy to see us.

We came home tonight. The show and the hotel were nice, but there is no place like home. We can sleep in our own bed tonight.

Life is good, when it feels like you have made people happy.

Public Relations

Pepe and I, with some help of Paula, manned the Chihuahua boothat the Stockholm Dog Show this afternoon. We met a lot of people, most of whom were happy to see us.

We believe we sold our breed to a lot of people. It was fun, but it was also hard work. Pepe and I would never complain over hard work, but we did get tired. We are happy to rest at the hotel this evening. Tomorrow, we will be back again.

Queue

We were stuck in a car queue for about an hour this afternoon. Other cars had been involved in an accident. We are lucky we were not involved in anything but the long queue.

The reason we were there at all, was that we were going to Stockholm. There is a big dog show there this weekend. You can meet Pepe and I in the Chihuahua booth there, if you are nearby. If not, this is a self evident thing for me to write about in the blog tomorrow. Stay tuned!

Name Day

We celebrated Daniel on his name day today. Celebrating name days is a Swedish tradition. It derives from the Catholic tradition to celebrate saints on their feast days, connected with the given names of the saints. Since Pepe and I are of Catholic, Mexican, decent, we approve of this.

Congratulations, Daniel!

Nobel Prize Festivities

The 10 December is a flag flying day in Sweden, since it is the day of handing out the annual Nobel Prizes, on the anniversary of the great donor Alfred Nobel.

The Nobel Prizes is one of the things Sweden is internationally known for. The festivities are broadcasted on TV, and we follow it with half an eye.

Pepe and I hope there will be an scientist who do research on dogs and humans who will get a Nobel Prize soon.

Passwords

There are a lot of passwords needed for different accounts on line these days. When I wanted to write a blog entry today, I used a new device, but could not log in. At first, I thought I had forgotten my password. I decided to try the same password once again, though. This time it worked. I guess I must just have typed some wrong key the first time. It was a good thing it worked out, using more devices makes it easier to make blog entries on a daily basis.

Rain in December

A lot of rain has fallen today.

It is nothing strange with rain in early December where we live. Winter and snow usually come later. It is still not nice that we must wait for the snow, because the snow makes these dark days of the year brighter.

We just have to wait and see if we will get a white Christmas.

British World Champion

British Formula 1 driver Lando Norris won the World Championship this year.

Daniel usually follows Formula 1, but he has not viewed as many races this year as he has before. He still likes to be updated, though.

The championship did not get decided until the last race, which was held today. Norris came third, but this was enough for him to become champion. It is nice when the suspense is there all the way to the finish line of the last race.

Pepe and I would want to see a Mexican champion, or a Swedish one, but it does not seem likely in the near future.

Chicken

We got some chicken meat with our food today. Chicken is very tasty.

Pepe and I ate most of the chicken, but Totte also got some. Malin was outdoors the whole day, when she came back inside in the evening, there was no chicken meat left for her. We did not tell her what she had missed, there is no reason to be cruel in that way. She is bound to get good meat on other occasions, it will even out over time.

Fined for Threatening to Kill a Dog

The Göta Court of Appeals has sentenced a man to fines for illegal threats, because he came with a threat against another man to kill the other man's dog. The judgment came on the 1 December 2025 in case B 2661-25. The man had to pay a fine.

The judgment came after an appeal of a judgment from the Örebro court, where the threatening man was freed.

We believe the judgment in the Court of Appeals is correct. If you threaten somebody by claiming you should kill the dog of that person, you should be found guilty.

The judgment also shows that the law protect dogs. This is certainly the most important conclusion you can make from this judgment.

Dumplings

Paula cooked dumplings today. These proved to be a favourite of Pepe.

Usually, Pepe is rather picky with the food he is given. Usually, he backs down, when somebody else want the food – just because he does not care enough to take the fight.

Today, Pepe jumped at the dumplings. He protected his share seemingly with his life, growling and scaring the cats away. Dumplings must really be Pepe's favourite dish. I am happy for him, that he got the dumplings today.

Predictive Text

When you get a new device to write electronic text upon, it always has a setting to use "predictive text". This means that the app tries to select words for you, instead of letting you write words yourself. It also changes some words to others, by itself.

We do not know the true purpose of predictive text, but we suspect it is invented just to annoy anyone who uses it.

Daniel has turned the predictive text function off on his new tablet. We are very grateful for this. It is much easier to write any text without this function.

Dough Maker

Paula and Daniel went grocery shopping today. When they came back home, they had a new kitchen appliance, a machine that helps you make dough when you bake bread.

Humans like bread. Pepe and I are not as fond of it. We believe your diet should contain more meat.

We guess that if you want to bake bread, a machine like this is nice to have. Paula has talked for a long time about wanting one. We hope she likes it and will use it a lot.

Dog Show Committee

There was an on line meeting with the Örebro län Kennel Club Dog Show Committee tonight. Daniel participated,  so we could hear some of the things that were discussed.  The club will have very nice dog shows next year. So far, there are decisions to be made, so I cannot tell you everything, but there will be events to look forward to. The official Askersund Dog Show is fixed in time to the 8–9 August, so you can enter this into your calendar at once, if you have not already done this. Good luck at any dog shows next year!
