Fined for Threatening to Kill a Dog

The Göta Court of Appeals has sentenced a man to fines for illegal threats, because he came with a threat against another man to kill the other man's dog. The judgment came on the 1 December 2025 in case B 2661-25. The man had to pay a fine.

The judgment came after an appeal of a judgment from the Örebro court, where the threatening man was freed.

We believe the judgment in the Court of Appeals is correct. If you threaten somebody by claiming you should kill the dog of that person, you should be found guilty.

The judgment also shows that the law protect dogs. This is certainly the most important conclusion you can make from this judgment.

Dumplings

Paula cooked dumplings today. These proved to be a favourite of Pepe.

Usually, Pepe is rather picky with the food he is given. Usually, he backs down, when somebody else want the food – just because he does not care enough to take the fight.

Today, Pepe jumped at the dumplings. He protected his share seemingly with his life, growling and scaring the cats away. Dumplings must really be Pepe's favourite dish. I am happy for him, that he got the dumplings today.

Predictive Text

When you get a new device to write electronic text upon, it always has a setting to use "predictive text". This means that the app tries to select words for you, instead of letting you write words yourself. It also changes some words to others, by itself.

We do not know the true purpose of predictive text, but we suspect it is invented just to annoy anyone who uses it.

Daniel has turned the predictive text function off on his new tablet. We are very grateful for this. It is much easier to write any text without this function.

Dough Maker

Paula and Daniel went grocery shopping today. When they came back home, they had a new kitchen appliance, a machine that helps you make dough when you bake bread.

Humans like bread. Pepe and I are not as fond of it. We believe your diet should contain more meat.

We guess that if you want to bake bread, a machine like this is nice to have. Paula has talked for a long time about wanting one. We hope she likes it and will use it a lot.

Dog Show Committee

There was an on line meeting with the Örebro län Kennel Club Dog Show Committee tonight. Daniel participated,  so we could hear some of the things that were discussed.  The club will have very nice dog shows next year. So far, there are decisions to be made, so I cannot tell you everything, but there will be events to look forward to. The official Askersund Dog Show is fixed in time to the 8–9 August, so you can enter this into your calendar at once, if you have not already done this. Good luck at any dog shows next year!

First of Advent

We celebrated the First Sunday of Advent today. For us, this is not just the first day of the period waiting for the arrival of Christ at Christmas. The First of Advent is also the anniversary of the day when Paula and Daniel became an item, a couple. If it were not for this, we would probably not be here. This blog would probably not exist. Life is full of points in history before us, that must have happened for our lives to turn out as good as they did. I love that Paula and Daniel became a couple.

New Tablet

Daniel has bought a new tablet. We will no longer use the old tablet.

It is interesting to try a new device.  I have logged in to the blog on this new tablet now. It looks a little different, but mostly the same.

I will still be able to use telephones or computers, as usual, but I have always used the old tablet the most. I believe this new tablet will become my new prefered device, but time will tell. There will be just as many daily blog entries as usual, regardless of which device I use.

Crunchy Cheese Bites

Paula had bought something special today. Both Pepe and I loved it. This was crunchy cheese bites.

We have always liked cheese. We also like reasonably chewy, crunchy things. These cheese bits also had a nice size, just enough for us Chihuahuas.

Pepe and I asked Paula to buy more of these crunchy cheese bites. We hope she does.

Cats Came Late

Humans and dogs have forged a close relationship over many millenia. Perhaps it dates as far back as 40,000 years, but at least 30,000 years.

New research shows that cats joined us much later, just a few thousand years ago. This is further proof that dog is man’s best friend. Cats do not come close.

I asked our cats Totte and Malin about this. Neither one of them wanted to comment.

I See Fire

Paula got up early and started a fire in the fire place in our living room. I always like to see the fire, it means it gets warmer indoors.

Dogs do not need to be able to control fire. We have our humans who do this for us. There are theories that controlled fire and food were the things, beside love, that ancient humans offered, when our wolf ancestors became dogs. Our wolf ancestors offered hunting and guarding skills, beside love. It has always been an even trade, fire has always been one of the human contributions.

I see fire, and I know my humans love me just as much as I love them.

Spilled Drink

Paula had an open bottle on a table today. Her plan was to drink the contents, but she happened to spill the drink on the floor.

Pepe and I could have helped, but we figured that Paula should clean up her own mess. As dogs, we help with a lot of things, but rarely cleaning.

The good thing was that when Paula did clean up the drink, it became cleaner than it had been before. This was a positive side effect of the accident.

There is no reason to cry over a spilled drink.

A Visit to the Bank

Paula and Daniel had an errand to the bank today. I have never quite understood what humans do at the bank or why they do it. As far as I can understand, it has something to do with money. Money is the thing humans use to get food, includimg dog food. This means an errand to the bank might have something to do with buying dog food, even though dog food is bought at other places. If this is the case, banks are important places.

We got our dog food today as well. We always do. Our humans are reliable.

In the Lap

This afternoon, Daniel sat down to rest and read for a while. I would have wanted to lie down in his lap to rest, while he sat down. Totte was there before me, however, occupying the lap. Totte listens to me on important things, such as when I want to keep food that he would be interested in. When he occupies the lap of Daniel, however, I let him have the lap. It is nice to lie in the lap, but it is not so important that I feel like I would chase Totte away. Totte could stay in the lap this time. I allow such things.

Minced Meat

Daniel cooked meat sauce today. Pepe and I got some of the minced meat to eat, whichis always a treat. Pepe did not eat much, but I did. Then Totte came along, when I was full, and finished it off. Malin got a little, too.

Minced meat is tasty and healthy. I have lost track of the many times I have expressed my wishes to get it more often. This cannot be said often enough.

Thaw

As was expected, thaw came along. We have had temperatures above the freezing point all day. There is hardly any snow left.

Malin and Totte, our cats, spent the day outside. They came back inside in the evening. It had been more comfortable for them outside with the warmer temperatures, but they still prefered to be inside for the night. Pepe and I understand them.

Still Snow

The snow is still on the ground.

We figured the snow would melt and disappear quickly, since it is still November. It was not quite as quickly as we thought, though.

Nevertheless, we still believe the snow will disappear in a few days.

Wednesday, November 19, 2025

Snow

Snow fell this morning.

At first, we figured the snow might thaw and disappear today. It didn’t. We had temperatures below the freezing point all day.

It is still just November. Chances are we will get thaw soon, and the snow will disappear.

A good thing about the snow is that it does not feel as dark as November usually does. The white snow reflects so much light. This is a good thing about snow, while the cold weather that brings snow is a bad thing.

We hope for a white Christmas, but Christmas is far away and we do not need snow all of the days until Christmas.

Early Departure

Paula and Daniel went to the hospital really early this morning. Then they came back, only to go there again an hour later.

The trouble is that Paula has an injuried shoulder that hurts. We wish it would heal and get well again.

Meanwhile, Pepe and I watched the house. We did this well, if I may say so. Nothing bad happened to the house while Paula and Daniel were away.

Barking

Pepe barks sometimes, when I believe there is no reason to bark. It is very rarely the other way around. It might be better if Pepe would not bark so much.

Whenever I am barking, there is a legitimate cause to bark. There are occasions when Pepe is barking with no legitimate cause for it.

Pepe claims he always have a cause to bark. This is true, he has, but it is not always a legitimate cause. Watch dogs bark to sound an alarm. This is what I do.

Nevertheless, we love Pepe very much.

Playoff

Sweden is at the bottom of its qualification group for the football World Cup. Still, the national team will get a spot in playoff games. This is thanks to a good result in Nations League earlier, and that all of the teams that did even better there are already qualified, either for the World Cup or for the playoffs through their result in the Qualification rounds.

We hope Sweden will make it to the World Cup. If not, Pepe and I can still root for Mexico. Mexico is already qualified, as one of the host countries.

Cleaning

We spent a lot of this Sunday cleaning.

Last week, a chest of drawers fell to the floor. While most of the effects had already been cleaned away, we found small items from the top of the chest lying on the floor. Sometimes, you will find remains from an accident for a very long time after the accident happened. We hope these were the final things to take care of.

The vacuum cleaner is noisy, but it could be worse. It leaves a cleaner floor behind, which is good.

Conference

The board of the Örebro County Kennel Club had a conference today. Daniel is a board member and attended the conference.

Daniel was satisfied with the conference, when he returned home in the late afternoon. Pepe and I would like to have heard more about what had been discussed. Paula was not as interested as we were, so Daniel did not say so much. Paula and Daniel talked about other topics instead. I guess this is all right. Life has taught me that human discussions can take unexpected turns and start to concern completely different issues. This was probably what happened between Paula and Daniel.

Friday, November 14, 2025

Frost

We had frost in the morning. We had frost in the evening.

Winter is here. Winter is a normal season for Sweden. We like winter in Sweden for this reason. Otherwise, we would prefer summer.

Thursday, November 13, 2025

No Smörgåstårta

Today is the special day for the Swedish dish smörgåstårta. You could call it sandwich cake, but this name would not do the dish justice.

Paula and Daniel considered having smörgåstårta today, but they ended up with a princess cake instead.

They could not find a good smörgåstårta, while princess cakes were on sale where they were buying groceries.

Princess cake is as tasty as smörgåstårta, albeit quite different. Paula and Daniel were satisfied, though, which is the most important thing.

Wednesday, November 12, 2025

Cheese

Paula served us cheese today.

It is not that cheese is good enough to be your whole source of nutrition, but it is so tasty you wished it were.

Grated cheese is the best. It is really easy to eat. We like that. This is also what we got.

Life is good, when you get cheese to eat.

Armistice Day

The 11 November is Armistice Day. On the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month 1918, the First World War came to an end. The Western Front was the last theatre of war, and this was where the guns finally fell silent.

The First World War was a war that should not have had to happen. It broke a whole generation of Europeans. After the war, people said this was ”the war to end all wars”, but just about twenty years later, the Second World War started. Even more people died in the Second World War.

Sweden managed to stay out of the world wars. Mexico did, too. We still believe we must remember the wars. It is only if we remember the wars, we can make sure no such hardships will happen again.

Strange Things

Some things are just so strange, it is easier to just forget them.

Then, when we have forgotten about them, we do not know what it was that was strange. Then we do not know what it was we could have written a blog entry about.

It is strange how the memory works.

Friday, November 07, 2025

Mild Weather

It is quite mild for November. When we go out in the morning, it is dark, but no frost on the ground. This is the month that was called Winter month in Sweden in the past. We are yet far from winter. This is fine by me.

Thursday, November 06, 2025

Gustavus Adolphus

It is the Gustavus Adolphus day, when we celebrate the great Swedish King Gustavus II Adolphus.

At least, Daniel tells us King Gustavus Adolphus was a great king. Apparently, he was not just a Swedish hero, but also a hero for all of Protestant Christianity. Pepe and I are decendants from the Catholic country Mexico. We are not so sure the Lutheran faith of Gustavus Adolphus and Daniel is the optimal Christian faith.

We would love to try Gustavus Adolphus pastry, though.

Bats, Agave, and Tequila

This is an interesting and concerning story from the Chihuahua area of Mexico.

The production of Tequila in Mexico poses a threat to the agave plants used for the production, and the bats who feed upon them and are needed for the pollination of them.

We hope Tequila will be around for generations. This must mean the farmers must take care of the plants and the pollinating bats. Tequila must be good for the economy in the future as well. What is good for the economy in the Chihuahua area, is good for the Chihuahua dog breed. We must never forget this.

Popcorn

I found a package of un-popped popcorn today. Paula was happy to learn this, she loves popcorn. I asked her to wait until the evening, though, when Daniel would be back home from work. She obliged, she thought it was a good idea to wait.

When Daniel was back home, he and Paula shared the popcorns. This was a nice evening snack for them. I am glad they were both happy for it.

Sunday, November 02, 2025

Some Cheese

We had an afternoon snack of cheese.

One of the foods both Paula and Daniel love is cheese. They often treat themselves to good cheese. They also often treat us to the same good cheese. This happens especially when it is cheese with no mold, apparently, humans can digest some molds that dogs cannot. The cheese today was without mold and Pepe and I got a lot of it. We liked it.

Remembrance

It is the annual day for everyone in Sweden to remeber the family members they have lost.

We think of the dogs who lived here before. They were part of our family.

Daniel went away for a moment of remembrance in Stockholm. Paula did the same, but here in Örebro.

Remembrance is part of life. As long as we remember, parts of our loved ones are still around in our hearts.

Minced Meat

We got some minced meat for dinner today. There were enough for Pepe, me, and the cats.

Minced meat is tasty and healthy. Food never gets better than when both of these qualities are fulfilled.

We all wish we could get minced meat more often.

Thursday, October 30, 2025

Floor Lamp

The ceiling in the entrance hall of our house is somewhat torn and broken. The lamp in the ceiling has become a little crooked. Paula and Daniel has decided not to use the lamp inte ceiling, until they can do something about the ceiling. In the meantime, they have put a floor lamp in the entrance hall. This gives almost as good light as the lamp in the ceiling. Sometimes, temporary solutions work really well. This is that kind of temporary solution. I like it.

Wednesday, October 29, 2025

Tortillas

We had tacos for dinner. This is excellent food, not just because it comes from Mexico. It is healthy and tasty.

Daniel always have tortilla bread for his tacos. Tortilla bread is great bread. It is nutritious and it does not give of bread crumbs. These qualities has actually made tortilla bread the bread that astronauts eat in space. Mexican influence goes well beyond this planet.

No Candy For Me?

Paula and Daniel ate some candy tonight. I asked if I could taste some, but they refused. They said I would not eat it, but just guard it against Pepe and the cats.

My humans know too much about me sometimes. The candy was of a kind I don’t really like, but I do enjoy the occasional defence of candy against Pepe and the cats.

I wish I could have had some ham or sausage instead. Then I would have eaten it.

Third Term?

There are speculations that the current US President would seek a third term as President.

Daniel, who has studied US constitutional law at a US law school, says this would not be possible. If this were not enough, there are more elaborate explanations on the internet on why this would not be possible.

People are very interested in the politics of the USA, even in Sweden. I wish they were more interested in the politics of Mexico, as I am.

Normal Time

The Daylight Saving Time is over for this season.

While I understand why humans may have clocks and are obsessed with keeping time, I have never understood why they change the clocks two times a year.

Well, we just have to put up with it, especially when the alarm clock goes off tomorrow morning.

Saturday, October 25, 2025

Cleaning the Terrace

We have a little terrace outside the door to our house. Daniel cleaned it this afternoon.

I guess this cleaning was needed. The terrace looks much better now.

Pepe and I do not spend much time on the terrace. When we are out in the yard, we are rather on the lawn. The terrace is an integral part of the house, though, and I would not want to be without it.

This Year's Police Dog

The price for Swedish Police Dog of the Year 2025 goes to German Hunting Terrier Ivan, Hivlingen's Rocco.

Throughout his career, Ivan has stopped murders and stopped a huge amount of drugs to get out on the market.

It is a nice surprise that a German Hunting Terrier gets this award. It goes to show you can be of any dog breed, and still make contributions in unexpected places.

Congratulations, Ivan!

Alarm Clock

Daniel turné on the alarm on his alarm clock every evening, when there is a work day the next day.

Well, at least almost every such evening. This evening, we had to remind him.

He was happy that we did remind him. One of the worst things Daniel knows is to oversleep. He says it upsets his whole day. Pepe, the cats, and I have a more relaxed approach to time. Sometimes, I wish our humans could have the same.

Wednesday, October 22, 2025

Fly

We are in the later third of October. One would think there would not be insects flying around. There is still a fly buzzing around in our bedroom tonight.

Flies are annoying insects. Their flight paths are also weird. We wonder what the reason might be to just fly around and around, do they just do this until they reach something to eat by chance?

A good thing about winter is that there are much fewer flies around, if any. The fly in our room today almost make me long for winter.

Tuesday, October 21, 2025

Visit at the Hospital

Paula had to go to the hospital in the middle of the day. This was due to her pain in the left arm and shoulder. Pepe and I stayed at home ourselves, defending it. Daniel came home in the late afternoon. Then, a couple of hours later, he could go to pick Paula up.

It is not fun when things like this happen. All went well for Paula, though. We were together again in the evening. All’s well that ends well.

Monday, October 20, 2025

Frost

Over the last few days, we have had temperatures below zero incheckning morning. There has been some frost on the ground.

We wish winter would wait a while. Pepe and I are of Mexican decent, we are more comfortable with Swedish summer than Swedish winter, even though we cope with winter as well. Winter will come, but hopefully not too soon.

Sunday, October 19, 2025

Vacuum Cleaner

Paula and Daniel purchased a new vacuum cleaner today. Their old one broke down a while ago.

I am not fond of vacuum cleaners. This is supposed to be a rather silent one. I think it can have a disturbing sound, nevertheless.

Well, the house may become cleaner, this may be worth the inconvenience

Saturday, October 18, 2025

Surprisingly Tasty

Paula cooked some green beans, that were part of the dinner that she and Daniel had. After dinner, some of the green beans were put down to me on the floor.

Vegetables are usually not a favourite of mine. However, hesitantly, I tasted them. They were surprisingly tasty. In just a little while, I had tasted them all.

I never knew beans could be this tasty. Dogs are omnivores, but with a tilt towards meat, of course. We can eat beans, nevertheless. I am glad I tried them out.

Late Night

Daniel was late, coming home tonight. He was at his lodge in the Order he is a member of. When he came home, it was past midnight. This is why I write after midnight. I thought I would have the chance to write about his meeting earlier, but this was not to be. He is at home now, anyway.

Cheese Tour

Tourists can go places for many different reasons.

Today, I read about a kind of tourist trip that I would like to have. In France, there are tourist trips to cheese factories. You get a tour other place where cheese is matured, and you get to taste the cheese.

Cheese come in many different varieties and tastes. Most are very tasty. Tasting cheese would be my kind of holiday.

Rainy Evening

It was raining when we got out for the evening. Rain is a nuisance, even though it is needed in nature and nothing to be afraid of. There are just instances when I wish no rain would fall just at that moment.

Pepe did not seem to mind the rain as much as I did, not doing anything to go inside as soon as I did. The cats also stayed outside. I do believe the cats have hideouts outside, where they are protected from rain, however.

We will have to see if there is rain tomorrow.

Something Else?

Hello, Pepe here!

Piffy wanted to take a break from the blog for a day. We agreed that I could write something instead.

The problem is to come up with anything to write about. This makes me get even more respect for Piffy than I already had, for her ability to often come up with interesting things to write about. I have to think much more about things to write about, if I will get a chance again later to write in the blog.

Nevertheless, I did write something. Piffy will come back tomorrow.

Different Pillows

There are many different pillows in the bed. Pepe and I tend to walk around and try out different pillows, before we settle down for the night. This is not just our behaviour, it is typically dog behaviour. In this way, we are just like other dogs. I like trying out different pillows, so in this way, I like being normal. The pillow is a good invention.

Sunday, October 12, 2025

New Clothes

Paula bought some new clothes today.

It is easier being a dog than a human, when you want to protect yourself from cold weather. We just use our coats, that grow naturally on us. Human coats disappeared somewhere thousands of years ago.

The clothes were fine, nevertheless.

Saturday, October 11, 2025

Flea Market

Daniel and one of his sisters sold things on a flea market today. It was a lot of different items from the estate of their mother.

Daniel told us afterwards that they sold more than he had thought they would. He also said there were many people who brought dogs to the flea market. Even though it might have been a dog friendly place, I think I had a better day at home.

I am happy it went well at the flea market.

Totte Likes Chicken

There was grilled chicken for dinner tonight. Our cat Totte smelled it and jumped up to try to get some. He was not allowed to have any, not this time. There have been times when Daniel has given Totte some chicken, but not this time. I felt a little sorry for Totte. He has cat food, so he did not need any of the chicken, but I know how much better chicken meat tastes, compared to dog food or cat food.

Pepe and I got some meat sauce. It was all right, but I would have liked a bite of the chicken better.

Identification Card

The Identification Card that Paula ordered last week was manufactured now. She could collect it today.

I am glad dogs do not need Identification Cards. We have no pockets or bags to put them in.

Paula was happy she got the card. It is valid for five years, which is a fairly long time.

Wednesday, October 08, 2025

Meatballs

Paula asked Daniel to serve Pepe and me food. He gave us meatballs.

Paula thought Daniel did a good deed. Pepe and I think he did a great deed. Meatballs are great food. More dogs should get meatballs more often.

Tuesday, October 07, 2025

Two Years Ago

It is two years ago today, since the Hamas terrorist attacks against Israel 2023 which started the current war. We wish there will soon be an armistice. Both humans and dogs in the area deserves peace.

Probable New Prime Minister

The ruling party of Japan, which is called the Liberal Democrat Party in English, has chosen a new leader. She is called Sanae Takaichi. It is likely, though not quite certain, that Parliament confirms her as Prime Minister. She is described as a conservative politician and is an admirer of the Conservative British politician Margaret Thatcher. She would be the first ever female Japanese Prime Minister.

My Shiba predecessors of bloggers would probably have more to say about Sanae Takaichi. They were always interested in the country their breed came from. If you are more interested, I recommend you to follow the link or read other news on Sanae Takaichi.

Brother

Pepe is like a brother to me. Totte is a brother of Malin.

In Sweden, we celebrate first names on certain dates. This day, the name is Bror. This is a boy’s name, but also the Swedish word for brother. Thus, Malin and I celebrated our brothers. Not much, but a little. We thought they could have been more grateful, though.

It was a good day, nevertheless.

Seventy Five Year Old Dog

Seventy five years ago today, the fictional Beagle Snoopy made his debut in the comic strip Peanuts. This was the third ever comic strip of Peanuts.

Snoopy is one of the most famous fictional dogs in the world. He was actually rewarded with a honourary registration with the American Kennel Club, AKC, the equivalent of the Swedish Kennel Club in the USA.

It is good that dogs are in comic strips, because dogs are in every day life. Comic strips reflect aspects of real life, and should, thus, reflect dogs as well. I like Snoopy and Peanuts. If Snoopy was around, I would congratulate him on his birthday.

Identification

If a dog wants to know who another dog is, we just smell them. We do the same with humans. If a human wants to know who a dog is, she or he just check the dog’s registration on the chip of the dog, with an electric chip reader.

If a human wants to know who another human is, the other human has to show an identification card. This is much more troublesome, as far as I can say. Identification cards come in different forms. They are valid just for a few years and a human has to remember to bring a valid card to make sure others can be sure the human is whom she claims she is.

Paula went to get a new identification card today. Humans need to do this once in a while.

It would be easier for humans, if they could just identify each other on their smell, like dogs do.

Paula Came Home

Paula has been away from home for a couple of days. She came back home this afternoon.

We all greeted Paula with joy.

Now that Paula is back home, we are all at home. Even Totte and Malin are indoors tonight. We have a great night tonight.

Wednesday, October 01, 2025

In the Lap

There are evenings when I lay myself down in the lap of Daniel. This is warm and comfortable. I couldn’t do it tonight, though, because our cat Totte were there first.

Pepe and I have a fine relationship with our cats Totte and Malin. You can tell they are just cats, but we respect them. They respect us, as well. If either one of us is first to get a nice spot to rest in, all of us respect it.

Totte had a fine evening, as did Daniel. I found another good spot on a comfortable pillow. It was a fairly good evening.

Taco Seasoned Meat

We got some taco seasoned minced meat today.

Minced meat is always great.

We hope that the taco seasoning in Sweden taste like the real deal from Mexico. None of us have been there, but we know tacos is from Mexico. Since our dog breed is from Mexico, we are interested in Mexican cuisine. Nevertheless, we like it. We believe this is because it is Mexican.

Life is good with taco seasoned minced meat.

AI Generated Trip Advice

There was an interesting story about tourists using artificial intelligence (AI) to plan their trips. A lot of them got advice that was not true. These are the perils of trusting AI.

My advice is to go out and walk your dogs, instead. Your dogs will never give you travel advice that isn’t true. Your dogs have real intelligence.

Eighth Mowing of the Lawn

Daniel mowed the lawn again today. This was the first time since the start of August, and probably the last time this year. While the lawn had become significantly higher since last time, it does not grow as fast now as in the late spring or early summer.

This was the eighth time Daniel mowed the lawn this season. (The word ”eighth” is hard to pronounce, so in a way, we would have wished for another total number of mowings of the lawn.) Thus, we have an answer to the question of how many times the lawn would be mowed this season. This is good.

We might make a count next year as well. We will decide upon this issue in the spring, however. You will have to see what happens.

Lonely

Paula is not at home. We feel lonely without her.

Friday, September 26, 2025

Afternoon Walk

Pepe and I went with Daniel for a walk this afternoon. It was a slightly odd time and a different way than usual. We went by the mailbox, where Daniel mailed a few letters.

It was nice to take a walk out of the ordinary. The day was fine for a walk, with sunshine and a nice temperature. Pepe and I enjoyed it. Given the right weather and other circumstances, we would do it again.

Roaming Around

You might think the term roaming around is for when you go around rather big distances. Perhaps this is the true meaning of the word. I use it as well, however, when I just go around from spot to spot in the bed. Since I am a small dog, blessed to be a Chihuahua, this includes some distances that are not very small, relatively speaking. Thus, I am roaming around in the bed. It is a fairly nice pass time once in a while.

Crisps

Daniel put up a bowl of potato crisps for everyone to eat from. Both Pepe and I did. Crisps are nice, though not as nice as many other forms of food and treats. It did make me satisfied enough not to resort to the ordinary dog food later in the evening, though. Not that dog food is bad, but you can grow rather tired of it, since you get it every day.

Chicken Filet

Paula and Daniel had grilled chicken for dinner. Pepe, Malin, Totte, and I all got parts of the chicken filet in our food bowls.

Chicken filet is great. When you eat it, you really feel like the carnivore that you are. This make you feel empowered and great. You are on top of the food claim. Thus, it is not just tasty food, it is food that makes you grow in your spirit.

I wish we could eat chicken more often.

Mexico and Canada

The leaders of Mexico and Canada have met. They agree that their countries should deepen their ties and trade, because both have been hurt by raised tariffs for exports to the USA.

Pepe and I hope this will be beneficial for Mexico and all the dogs living there, not least our relatives, the Chihuahuas. Trade is good. Without trade, Pepe and I would not be Swedish Chihuahuas.

Church Election

There is an election for the laymen decision makers in the Church of Sweden today. The clergy decides upon theology, of course, but the elected laymen decides on things like the economy and membership fees.  Daniel was a candidate and told us he voted for himself. We hope he is successful.

Dog Show

The regional kennel club had its final dog show of the year today. Daniel was there working, while Pepe, Paula, and I stayed at home.

When Daniel came home, he told us about the show. It had worked out well, with just some slight slips that they could take care of along the way.

It was good weather for a dog show. There was a little rain in the morning, but not during the show, and it was neither too warm, nor too cold.

I guess you could call the show a success.

Under the Gate

There is a gate in the doorway between the entrance hall and the kitchen of our house. It was put there long before I arrived for the very first time, as a pup.

Luckily, I have always been small enough to crawl under this gate when I want to. Pepe is bigger than I am and cannot.

When we get visitors, I do crawl under the gate sometimes, to reach the visitors. Then I might crawl back into the kitchen again. This is fun. The humans around are sometimes surprised to see me on the other side of the gate. So be it, none of them have ever objected. Thus, I believe the crawling space for me will remain. So far, nothing indicates it would ever go, which is good. I like to be able to go under the gate once in a while.

X Rays

Paula was at the hospital today, to get X ray pictures of her injuried shoulder. It was a good visit at the hospital, she said, but it made her tired.

In a few weeks, Paula will get an operation. The wounded parts are still too swollen, but not as much as before.

We wish Paula all the luck with her healing.

Friendly Guests

Now that Paula has an injuried shoulder, she gets some help from the commune. The people who come home to us to help Paula are very friendly.

This morning, Pepe and I were outdoors when they arrived. They started out by greeting us in a very nice manner. We greeted them back in the most friendly way we could. Then we let them in.

We approve of them.

Upcoming Show

There is an unofficial dog show this Saturday. Our regional kennel club stands behind it and Daniel helps. They had an on line meeting about the show this evening.

Pepe and I are happy that we will stay at home during this show. Neither one of us have ever been interested in being showed, even though we know some dogs like it, or even love it. We do hope the show will be a success.

Drum Stick

We were very happy to watch a reel from a rock concert today. A dog came up on the stage, and the band’s drummer took very well care of it. Just watch the reel and see. Then you can also see why the headline of this blog post is Drum Stick.

This is the kind of human you would want to meet, if you happen to end up in an unexpected place.

Gruyère

Paula and Daniel had some cheese to eat this afternoon. Pepe and I got to taste pieces of Gruyère cheese.

Gruyère cheese is a Swiss hard cheese that I had not tasted before. It turned out to be very tasty. I like the salty taste. Pepe also liked this cheese very much.

We hope that we will get more Gruyère cheese soon.

League Start

The Swedish Hockey League started today, for the men’s ice hockey. This is one of the most watched sport leagues in Sweden.

Daniel’s favourite team won its game, so he was happy. Pepe and I do not think we have any favourite team, but we are happy for Daniel’s sake. This has to be good enough.

We Found It

We found the little green bag today. We found it without even looking for it. Suddenly, Paula just saw it and showed it to us. It was in a bigger bag in the bedrog we had not considered looking in the other day, because we did not think it was in the bedroom at all.

It is positive the little green bag has been found. There was nothing in it, however. We really looken for the little green bag, because of the things we believed would be in it. It remains to be seen where those things are.

Paula Came Home

After a few days away, Paula came home again this afternoon.

We were overjoyed, of course. The family is all together again.

Pepe and I wish we could all stay together from now on.

Organizing

We spent some of the evening organizing in the kitchen. There were quite a lot of documents with old information on it, so we threw it away. There is more work to be done, especially Daniel is good at just letting old documents lie around. He said he has become better at storting them out and throwing them away. Pepe and I hope he is right.

Board Meeting

There was an on line board meeting with the regional kennel club today. Since Daniel is a board member, he participated.

Pepe and I sat close by and listened to what was said. We are sure many of the things said were very wise. At the same time, a some of the things went over our heads. We have not been to every board meeting, so we do not have the right knowledge and context. The decisions that were made sounded good, though. Daniel was satisfied with the meeting, and so were we. It was a good meeting.

Looking for a Green Bag

Paula has lost a small green bag with some things in it. We helped looking for it today.

It is easier being a dog and not caring about things. If you do not care about things, you do not care if you love them, either.

I tried to say we should not care that the small green bag was gone. Nobody cared what I said.

Meeting Prior to a Meeting

In a couple of weeks, Daniel will go to Kennelfullmäktige, the biannual Kennel Club council. The regional kennel club had a meeting tonight about some issues which will come up at that meeting. It was an on line meeting, so Daniel participated from home.

Pepe and I listened to the discussions, but I soon fell asleep. The issues may be important, but it is so boring to listen to people talk to them. We cannot understand how Daniel and the others can go on and on talking about these things. It is nice that they do, but we are glad we will not have to.

Saturday, September 06, 2025

Early Morning

We got up early this morning, even though it was a Saturday. Pepe and I could go back to sleep again, but Daniel drive off to work at a dog show. He takes his engagements as ring steward very seriously. Pepe and I agreed we were happy we did not have to come along.

Friday, September 05, 2025

Warmer Outside

It may be autumn, and the foilage has started to turn yellow. The nights are getting longer. We still have some warm days, however. The weather was sunny today. When we went out at noon and in the middle of the afternoon, it was warmer outside than it is inside our house. It was not a huge difference in temperatures, but big enough that we noticed it as soon as we got out.

Days like this are great autumn days. Daniel says autumn is his favourite season. On warm days in the early autumn, like today, I can aknowledge that he has a point. By November, he does not.

Thursday, September 04, 2025

Morning Rain

It is no fun going out in the rain. When it is raining in the morning and you have been indoors the whole night, what choice is there? We were lucky the rain had stopped until the following occasions when we went out. The autumn weather with rain is here.

Cave Art

Art painted in a cave in present day Mexico has been estimated to be ten thousand years old.

Pepe and I wonder what life might have been for the dogs and humans of the society where this art was made. Where there ancestors of Chihuahuas living in this culture? Those dogs may have contributed to the art by making the artists happier. We like to think so, though it is far from certain. We know we make our humans happier.

Working from Home

Daniel is working again, after a few weeks off for summer holiday. He worked from home today.

For Pepe and me, this is almost as the days when he was off work. Our duty as watch dogs are not as heavy, when at least one of our humans are at home. Thus, we could take it easy today.

We wish both Paula and Daniel were at home more.

Fetching the News Paper

When Daniel went to fetch the news paper this morning, he brought me along. I was not very keen on a walk at the time, though, so I stopped halfway down to the road, where we have the mailbox.

Walks can be nice at times, but I did not feel like walking this time. Daniel accepted this. There are times when I really like that I have him as my human.

Sunday, August 31, 2025

Autumn Is Around the Corner

It is the last day of August today. August is the last summer month. There will be September tomorrow.

You could say autumn is around the corner. Pepe said autumn is already here, with the rain and colder weather we have had. I am not prepared to take it so far. I want the summer to last a little longer. It is around the corner, not here yet.

Saturday, August 30, 2025

Damp Grass

Daniel wanted to mow the lawn today, but considered the grass too damp. He says you cannot mow the lawn with a good result, if it is too damp. I do not know about the obstacle that water is to mowing the lawn, but there were a lot of water drops on a lot of the lawn. It has rained this week, the latest time yesterday, and there was not enough warmth or wind to make the lawn dry. We all relaxed indoors instead, which was also nice. The lawn can wait.

Friday, August 29, 2025

Brawl

Now and then, when Daniel is at the city council, we follow the debates online.

There may be harsh words and the occasional personal insult. Compared to the physical brawl in the Mexican Senate the other day, however, this is nothing.

I cannot understand why there was a physical fight in the Senate. Mexicans are normally civilised people, at least as far as I know. This makes me sad for the Chihuahuas in Mexico.

Blueberry Ice Cream

It was a day of many treats today.

In the middle of the day, Paula and Daniel had some blueberry ice cream. Pepe and I got to taste it, and since we liked it so much, we got even more.

In the afternoon, Daniel cooked meat sauce. Pepe and I got some raw minced meat. This was very tasty, but still not the special treat of the blueberry ice cream.

When the meat sauce had been eaten, Pepe and I got some of it that was left. This was also tasty, but still not the special treat like the blueberry ice cream.

I was a little surprised myself, that I was so fond of blueberry ice cream. After all, minced meat is great food, very tasty and healthy for you. Meat sauce is also really good. I just have to realise there may be some things that are not your typical favourite for a carnivore like myself, that is still of a great taste. I hope we get blueberry ice cream again soon.

Jumping Around

Pepe likes to jump around sometimes. He does this outdoors, in the kitchen, in the living room, or in the bed.

I do not really understand why Pepe jumps around. While Pepe think this is fun, I sort of get tired just looking at it. Perhaps it is just that I have a more laid back approach to life.

It is interesting that we are different, when we are both Chihuahuas. I believe my way is the better way, but Pepe’s way is not wrong. If you want to jump around, I will not stop you. Life is good when I do not have to, it is as simple as this.

Nice Day

This is an extra nice day. Paula fell and hurt her shoulder last Friday. She had to go to the hospital on the Saturday because of this. She came home today. While Paula is injuried, all of the family is at home now. This makes us feel much more comfortable. Life is good again.

International Dog Day

Today is the international dog day.

All the dogs I have ever known, like the idea of a dog day, but really feel it is unnecessary. Dogs are around all year. In essence, every day is a dog day, because we are always everywhere.

Nevertheless, if you need a specific day to celebrate dogs, this is good day to do it, because it is the International Dog Day.

Aftermath

It was the day after the dog show. Daniel went away to the club house with the things he had brought back from the show.

When Daniel came back home again, he thought he would sit down on his bed to read the news. He could not do this, however, because his bed was occupied. Malin had fallen asleep in the middle of it. Daniel had to relax somewhere else. He relictantly did this, he could not disturb the sleeping cat. We understood him.

Successful Dog Show

Daniel came home from the dog show this afternoon. It had been a success, he said.

Pepe and I are not certain how the dog show could have been such a success, when we did not take part as the dogs of the secretariat. The plan was that we would be there and help out in the secretariat. According to Daniel, they did not have any dogs in the secretariat. How the dog show could be a success, without dogs in such a central place, is beyond us. We guess we just have to take Daniel’s word for it.

Stray Dogs in India

There are millions of stray dogs in India. A lot of them carry diseases, not least rabies. Under these circumstances, it is understandable that things have to be done to help the dogs.

It makes me sad to read about so many dogs who don’t have loving humans and nice homes. I can still feel it is important to know about these things. We must hope things will get better for most of these dogs.

Taking Care of Paula

When Paula got up early this morning, she happened to trip and fall. She hurt her arm, and could not really move it.

Due to this injury, Paula decided to stay at home, instead of going with Daniel and the rest of us to Askersund for the dog show this weekend. This means that Pepe and I also stayed at home. We will spend the weekend taking care of Paula, instead of working at the dog show. Daniel had to leave by himself.

Taking care of Paula is the right thing to do, under the circumstances.

Just Another Day

There are days when it seems like nothing of significance happens in your life. This was one of those days. We spent the day at home. We got to go out a few times, like we always do. We got our food when we usually get it. There were water in all of the water bowls. The cats were indoors some of the day, outdoors other parts of the day.

It would be nice if you always had something to remember from every day. However, I do not think there is any particular event this day, that I will really remember. It was just another day.

Tomorrow will probably be more memorable.

Fire In the Sky

A fire ball lit up the sky over southern Japan yesterday night. This was probably an asteroid or asteroid dust burning up in the atmosphere.

I try to follow news from Japan and make a blog entry about it once in a while. The Shibas who had this blog before me, were very interested in Japan, as their ancestral home.

It would be fantastic if the night sky would suddenly be lit up by a fire ball, like the one over Japan. Odd things in nature amazes me. These things are not common, however. I doubt I will ever see one, but you never know. Time will tell.

Moving a Church

The whole Church of Kiruna is moved today.

Kiruna is built to be a town for the miners of the Kiruna iron mine. The town has to move, to let the mine expand. Thus, the church has to move.

This is such a big deal, that even international news agencies like the BBC covers it.

We are glad our home town Örebro does not have to move. It is built for trade of ore from the mines in this part of the country, but has no mines under it. We will stay where we are.

New Cat Food

We ran out of cat food yesterday night. This was very odd, none of us could remember it happening ever before. Paula and Daniel usually buy more cat food or dog food when it is a lot of it left in the previous bag they bought.

Of course, our cats like dog food and a lot of human food as well, so there was no danger of starvation.

This morning, Paula and Daniel went to the store and bought more cat food.

Once they were back home with the cat food, they filled up the cat food bowls. The cats could not care less. There had been dog food for them to eat already.

Black Cat Appreciation Day

In the USA, the 17th August is celebrated by some as Black Cat Appreciation Day.

This day is in part celebrated to get away from old superstitions that black cats were bad and in liaisons with demons or other evil creatures. We don’t believe such superstitions, so we think it is a good cause for the day.

We have two cats: Malin and her brother Totte. Malin is a black cat. Thus, we have appreciated her a little more today than other days. Totte did too, even though he wondered if there is a Striped Cat Appreciation Day.

Malin was glad for being appreciated.

Some American trends are nice. This is one such nice trend.

Statistics on Dogs

There are many dogs in the world. We are everywhere. There are, however, more dogs on some countries than others.

According to this interesting article, the United States of America is the country which has the largest population of dogs. There is also a list of the ten countries with the largest known populations of dogs.

In some cases, there are many stray dogs. One has to question the knowledge on how many dogs there are in a country, where they say many dogs are stray dogs. We are happy we are not stray dogs.

Chicken

While Pepe and I were disappointed yesterday, when we did not get any hot dogs, this was made up for today. Paula and Daniel served us meat from a freshly grilled chicken. Daniel later commented to Paula, that we had licked the dish clean.

While hot dogs are good food, grilled chicken is better food.

While I do not want to write too many blog entries on the food we get, if we get chicken, I cannot help myself. Chicken is really good and tasty food. It is also healthy for you, it contains a lot of protein. We wish we could get chicken more often.

Thursday, August 14, 2025

Hot Dogs or Not

At the request of Paula, Daniel went to the store and bought some hot dogs and bread for it. When he was back home again, Paula had changed her mind. She no longer wanted to have hot dogs for dinner.

I normally do not care much what Paula and Daniel eat. Tonight, however, I was sorry there were no hot dogs. When Paula or Daniel cook hot dogs, there will usually be parts of hot dogs for me and Pepe. We did not get any hot dogs now. This was a disappointment.

It Became a Murder

Earlier this summer, I wrote about the attempted murder at Colombian senator Miguel Uribe Turbay, and the investigation following the attack.

The attempted murder has now turned into a murder, because Miguel Uribe Turbay has died because of the injuries sustained at the attack.

We are so sad for the family and friends of Miguel Uribe Turbay, and for all Colombians, because a political murder affects the whole country. In the the upcoming presidential election, Miguel Uribe Turbay wanted to run for office. We hope the outcome will be something he would have been satisfied with, nevertheless.

Pork

Paula and Daniel were away doing some stuff for the Kennel Club today. This is important, but it is still not fun when they go away without us.

Once they came home, they made it up to us. They brought pork. This was a very tasty meal. Pork should be in the food bowls more often, if I were to decide.

Dog Show Committee

The Dog Show Committee had a meeting online tonight. It was mainly about the Askersund Dog Show on the 23–24 August.

Most of the preparations are done or planned well. It looks good. We are all glad for this.

When the preparations go so well, it is easier to look forward to the event. Pepe and I certainly do. It will be fun.

Sunday, August 10, 2025

Dining Out

Pepe and I came along with Paula and Daniel down to the central square of our town. We sat down at a table outside of one of the restaurants there.

The staff was nice. They welcomed Pepe and me. While Paula and Daniel enjoyed their meal, Pepe and I got some fresh water to drink.

It was a nice evening. We liked that we got to come along.

Saturday, August 09, 2025

Vacuuming

We cleaned and vacuumed the floors today. It is more comfortable to walk on clean floors.

Daniel also vaccumed some parts of the ceilings, windows, etcetera. I could never reach there, or see the dust, but I am glad Daniel did.

Cleaning is no fun, but it gives you a more comfortable home. A comfortable home is nice.

Friday, August 08, 2025

Washing the Dishes

Paula and Daniel have had a holiday all of this week. This is nice, because they are at home much more than usual. It is bad, however, in the sense that they get more lazy. The dirty dishes have piled up on the kitchen zink. This morning, Daniel finally got around to take care of the dirty dishes.

They cannot blame us dogs, not even the cats. We use far less dishes and cuttlery than our humans do.

It was nice to see that the zink was cleared of dirty dishes. Then again, in the evening, more dirty dishes were added.

Thursday, August 07, 2025

Seventh Mowing of the Lawn

At long last, Daniel got around to mow the lawn today. It was the seventh time this season.

Daniel said it was long over due. We agree with him. Pepe and I are Chihuahuas, proud member of the smallest dog breed in the world. We like a well mowed lawn in the garden, because tall grass affects us a lot.

There is some problem with the lawn mower, though. Daniel will contact a lawn mower repair man about this. We hope it can be fixed.

World Dog Show

We wish all four friends and family who participate in the World Dog Show in Finland this weekend good luck!

Pepe and I will not participate. We leave participation to others. It would be fun, but we skip it this time. Friends and family are there, though.

Good luck!

Remains

Remains of 32 humans, probably killed, has been found in a house in the State of Guanajuato in Mexico. They are probably victims of the many violent crimes in the state.

It makes us sad to read about tragedies like this in Mexico, the country where Pepe’s and my dog breed is from. We have never been to Mexico, but the country has a place in the hearts of both of us, because we decend from Mexico.

We hope any dogs of these victims were taken good care of.

Tuesday, August 05, 2025

Ring Stewards

Fewer dogs than predicted will be shown at the Askersund Dog Show. We have spent part of the day re-arranging the rings and the ring stewards.

It is not fun to ask a ring steward not to come, but all of them were very understanding. We thanked them for this.

The dog show is bound to be a nice experience anyway, for all of the dogs and humans who will be there.

Monday, August 04, 2025

Holiday

This Monday was the first true holiday for Paula and Daniel. Monday is normally a working day, but today, they were mostly at home, taking it easy.

This also means it is easier for Pepe and I. We do not have to take so much care watching the house, while both our humans are away at their jobs. This is good, it makes for days of rest for us as well. Life is good on a holiday.

Sunday, August 03, 2025

Thunder

We heard thunder this afternoon. There were also a lot of rain.

Even though we heard thunder, it was far away. We did not see any lightning.

Thunder is rather nice, when you are indoors. The cats were outdoors, but thisis their problem.

Saturday, August 02, 2025

Rain and Thunder

We have had a lot of rain today. There was even thunder, but at a distance.

The cats were outdoors some of the time of rain. Eventually, they came indoors again. They are both indoors tonight. I am happy for them to be indoors in rain.

Pepe and I had to go out in the rain in the evening. We are happy we did not have to be outside for long. Life is better indoors, when it is raining.

For Survivors

Some humans make great things for their fellow humans. Today, I read about American actor Gary Sinise and his charity foundation. They took thousands of children and spouses of fallen military personel to Disney World in Florida. If you are rich, and successful actors like Gary Sinise often are, this is a great way to give something good to people who deserve it. I am sure the dogs of these families also get a positive experience from their happier humans.

Drought

There is water shortage and drought in Chihuahua, the Mexican State that has shared its name with the best dog breed there is.

The linked article about this is interesting. It does not say anything about how the drought affects the dogs in the area. I hope this means dogs get enough water.

We wish for a lot of rain over Chihuahua in Mexico.

Dog Show Committee

We attended an on line meeting tonight with the Dog Show Committee of our regional kennel club. The meeting was mainly about the Askersund Dog Show 23–24 August.

Pepe and I will work in the secretariat at the show, with Paula and Daniel. It is important work, but it will be fun. We are looking forward to it.

The meeting was fine. All of the preparations are on the way. It feels good.

Monday, July 28, 2025

Snoring

Pepe says I am snoring, when I sleep.

I don’t know about this myself. When you sleep, you are not aware what sounds you make.

If I snore, I don’t disturb myself. To be true, Pepe never said I disturb him by snoring, either. This is a relief. I would not want to disturb anyone and not being aware of it myself. I sleep well, this is what I know.

Sunday, July 27, 2025

The Last Samurai

We watched the American film The Last Samurai on TV tonight. It gave us an interesting view of 19th century Japan, the country where Shibas come from.

We did not see any Shibas in the film, though. This made us disappointed.

The Last Samurai would have been a better film, if there would have been dogs in it, especially dogs of a breed we know.

Warm Days

We have had many warm days this week. Pepe and I really like this. We figure it can be due tour Mexican heritage. The climate is warmer in Mexico than in Sweden.

Daniel made us take baths in cold water today, in order to cool down. I think this was a little too much. A bath is no bad thing as such, but I actually enjoyed the warmth, so I think I did not really need it.

Pepe was less annoyed than I was for the bath, I think.

We like Daniel anyway.

Laws Against Smuggled Dogs

A proposed UK law will give the authorities more ways to act against smuggled dogs. There have been too young pups, pregnant dogs, and other horrible things detected.

It is good that a law like this may be enacted. In a better world, we would not need it. I have never understood how there can be so high demand for smuggled dogs, that smuggling can be an economic alternative for anyone.

Rain on the Clean Clothes

Paula hung up laundry to dry in the garden today. Unfortunately for her, a rain shower came by and soaked the clean clothes.

It is so much easier to have your own coat, as dogs have, than to have clothes. We never need to du laundry or hang our coats out to dry.

Paula kept the clothes hanging. The weather forecast said there would be no more rain. We have to hope the forecast is correct.

Wednesday, July 23, 2025

A Month to Go

In a month, we will all go to Askersund and the big dog show there.

Pepe is looking forward to be a co-worker in the secretariat again, like he was last year. I am not so sure what I would like to do. We will have to see. I am sure it will be fun, though.

We will also celebrate Paula’s birthday in a month. It will be nice to combine these things.

Tuesday, July 22, 2025

Club Work

Paula and Daniel went to the Kennel Club house today. There were things to do there for the Club.

Meanwhile, Pepe and I took care of the house. We watch it, when none of our humans are around.

Not that I know what Paula and Daniel really did, but Pepe and I believe our job took more effort. Watching the house is serious business.

Monday, July 21, 2025

A Great Afternoon

Pepe and I visited Paula’s sister, nephew, and niece this afternoon. Paula’s niece Nadja had specifically asked to see us. We gladly went there. We played, got snacks, went for walks, and rested in the garden. Nadja was a splendid hostess, and her brother Arvid was a splendid host.

It is always nice not to walk in the same paw prins every day. This was really different, and really nice. It was a great afternoon.

Moon Landing

On this date in 1969, humans landed on the Moon for the very first time.

There had been stories about Moon landings before. In the comic Tintin, the Fox Terrier Snowy (Milou) was among the ones to walk on the Moon. In real life, no dogs came along to the Moon. We may in the far future, but nothing is planned yet. When humans move there, I am sure dogs will follow.

Landing on the Moon was a great thing. More landings followed until 1972. There has been talks about new Moon landings in the near future. I hope I live to see them.

The Countryside

Paula, Daniel, and I visited some friends on the countryside outside of Örebro this evening. We sat outside and talked, ate, and drank. Then we went for a walk in the area.

Over all, it was a very pleasant evening. The nice weather added to it. I would like to have more nice evenings like this.

Bicycles

Daniel’s bicycle is old and rusty. He rides his bike to work and back troughout the year, regardless of weather. This puts a lot of strain on the bike, of course. He had left it for service this week, but they would not repair everything. They said it would not be economically sound, but that Daniel should rather buy a new bike.

Paula has a bike which they left to be repaired today. It is not as old and used as Daniel’s bike. We will have to see what the repair man says about this bike. I hope it can be repaired.

New Harnesses

Paula and Daniel bought new harnesses for me and Pepe today.

We don’t think we need any harnesses. A harness is there to direct where we would go, but we always go in the best direction possible, with a speed suitable for the purpose. Why would anyone of us need a harness?

At the Veterinarian

Pepe and I visited the veterinarian today. You have to have medical check ups once in a while.

Visits to the veterinarian is not something I enjoy, but it is good to have done it. Now we can go many months before the next check up. This is good.

Chihuahua Saviour

A man in the Alps got help to survive from his Chihuahua. The man had fallen down in a glacier rift, He managed to ring for help on his mobile telephone, but it was the Chihuahua who guided the rescuers to the right place. The man might not have survived without the guidance from the Chihuahua.

This only goes to prove you do not have to be a big dog, to be a hero dog. All dogs can be heroes.

A Lot of Rain

We have had a lot of rain this summer. It was pouring all morning today.

Some people claim all of this rain will not make much difference for the water levels under ground. Wells can still dry out, because there was little snow last winter. I hope this will not happen to our well. We will have to see later in the year.

Sunday, July 13, 2025

Concrete Blocks

Paula and Daniel purchased a few concrete blocks that we put out in the garden. They will add to the looks.

When working with this, our cat Totte came along. He helped out. This was nice of him.

You may say that concrete is grey and boring. It is true that it is grey, but it does not have to be boring. This depends on what you do with it. I think we did something good with it.

Sixth Mowing of the Lawn

Daniel mowed the lawn today. He was finished before the rain that fell in the late afternoon.

As I have written before, we keep track of the number of times the lawn is mowed this season, by writing about it in the blog. There will certainly be more times, but it is difficult to say how many.

Double Bagel

Tennis player Iga Swiatek from Poland won the women’s final in Wimbledon today, versus Amanda Anisimova from America. The result was astounding: 6-0, 6-0. Anisimova did not win a single game. A victory like this is called a ”double bagel”, probably because of the double 0’s. It has not happened since 1911 that a final in Wimbledon has been won so convincingly as 6-0, 6-0. This is 114 years ago. It is amazing, a historic event, when you think about it.

Honouring Morran

Our dear Affenpinscher friend Morran passed away this week. She could not keep up with her cancer anymore.

We honoured her tonight by eating one of her favourite things: minced meat. It was almost like we sensed Morran’s presence there, as if she would come around any second and take more minced meat from before us. She didn’t, of course, but we remembered when she did.

Rest in peace, Morran!

Unnecessary Things

We have spent part of today identifying old things which we do not use any longer. Such unnecessary things occupy space without contributing anything. We will see if we can sell or give away anything. Other things may just be garbage that we will throw away. The main thing is to get rid of these unnecessary things. What will happen to them remains to be seen.

It would be better to have candy instead.

Memories

We have talked a lot about memories of older dogs tonight. There are many fond memories to talk about. Life is not just here and now, it is also what we have been through and the dogs who we knew then. It has shaped the current us. This feels good.

Why?

Why is it that you can be so sad on a beautiful day?

Monday, July 07, 2025

Angels Crying

Some people say that when it is raining, the angels are crying. This must mean they are sad. There are times when I can really understand the angels being sad, because I am also sad. This is such a day. It is suitable, then, that it is raining today. The angels are crying.

Suspect Arrested

A key suspect in the investigation of an attempted political murder in Colombia has been arrested. I wrote about this attempted murder in the blog on the 9 June

It has turned out that the fifteen year old shooter had older accomplishes who had planned the deed and who had persuaded him to shoot.

The investigators seem to have made a good job. We can hope that all of the people behind the crime will be sentenced for it and that the victim will make it through.

Drying Rack

Daniel purchased a new drying rack today. This was put in the bathroom to hang laundry on to dry.

Paula stayed at home with us dogs, since she did not feel well. We took care of her.

Laundry and drying racks are things dogs never need. We have coats which protect us, so we do not need clothes. I am glad we do not need it, it is much easier not to have clothes. We would not need any drying rack.

Tacos

We had the best 4th of July dinner imaginable today – tacos. This is originally Mexican food, which has become common in the USA as well. For Pepe and I, who are Chihuahuas, we really enjoyed it.

Taco spices in minced meat is a treat.

Wednesday, July 02, 2025

Hamburgers

Paula made hamburgers for dinner.

The best part of this, was when minced meat was served to us dogs. Minced meat is a blessing of civilisation. Meat is always nice, but it is easier and tastier to eat it, when it is minced already.

We wish we could get minced meat more often.

Twentyfive Year Old Bridge

The bridge between Denmark’s capital Copenhagen and Malmö in Sweden was opened twentyfive years ago. This is a long time, especially in the time perspective of a dog.

I have never been to Denmark. Rumour has it, sausages have a brighter red colour there. This might be interesting to see, but it is the smell and taste that is important. Swedish sausages are good enough, I believe.

Building bridges is a good thing. It has boosted the economy in the area near the bridge, thus, it has also strengthened the economy of both Sweden and Denmark. It has made it easier for dogs to cross the border too, which is good. I think it is a good bridge.

Curse Words

We watched a TV show on making hamburgers today. This is a great subject for a TV show. The story was that a man travels around to different people who cook hamburgers.

Weirdly enough, both men in this episode cursed and cursed. It was like they used curse words in every sentence. The main man, who travelled to the cooker, said the hamburger he got to taste was ”damn sick”, and meant it was really good.

This is as if dogs would growl at being served bowls of food with excellent food, like hamburgers, minced meat, or the like. It is confusing and strange. I wish the men in the TV show would just use more pleasant words to describe food they would consider great.

Fifth Mowing of the Lawn

For the fifth time this summer season, Daniel mowed the lawn today.

He said he thought it was the fourth time, but I pointed out that I had already written about a fourth time two weeks ago. This only goes to prove it is good that we keep track of the times the lawn is mowed in the blog. If we did not, we would have lost track now.

The lawn will surely be mowed more times this season. It remains to be seen how many times it will be. This may differ with the weather for the rest of the summer. Stay tuned, and it will be recorded in the blog.

Taking Care of Paula

Paula had operations in her arms yesterday. Not due to any serious cause, but still making her less mobile.

Paula must not lift anything but the most light weights either. She must not even lift me, and I am less than 1 kg! This feels strange.

We take good care of Paula. She needs it, and we love to care for her. She will feel good soon.

Bear at Airport

A bear went roaming about an airport in Japan, stopping flights.

Bears are big animals that can be aggressive and dangerous to dogs or humans. I can understand the difficulty in chasing the bear away.

I hope the bear had a good time. The dogs and humans who had to chase it or who just had to wait, probably did not.

Cooking Shows

Paula often watches cooking shows on TV. None of us dogs understand the point. You cannot smell or taste the food.

There are times when we hear the pleasant sound of cooking meat, but we cannot smell anything. Then it turns out it is just another cooking show.

Today, however, Paula did cook chicken. It smelled and tasted great. This is what food should always be about.

Disturbing Reality of Becoming Civilised

South Korea has banned dog meat and to raise dogs for human food. Thus, South Korea will become a civilised country.

There are troubles, however. Many dogs will not be food, but nobody knows what will happen to them. Perhaps they will just be euthanised. They seem to become victims of the law that would make them free.

I cannot remember reading anything this disturbing before. It is like a horror story. I hope I will not dream about this tonight.

Tuesday, June 24, 2025

Shrimps

There were shrimp baguettes for dinner.

Shrimps are tasty. I wish I could have had more shrimps than I got. Baguettes, on the other paw, is nothing that I really fancy.

There were shrimps left. We hope we can get more shrimps tomorrow.

Monday, June 23, 2025

Heavy Rain

We had some really heavy rain this evening. It was a good thing we were indoors, when the rain drummed hard on the roof.

The forecast said there could be thunder, but we did not hear any. Perhaps the heavy rainfall drained out the sound of far away thunder.

It is good to get rain, it can help to fill our well.

New Food

Paula and Daniel went grocery shopping today. One of the things they purchased was a new bag of dog food. This is important.

All of us dogs like meat, fish, sausages et cetera more than dog food. We like our dog food, but many other things are tastier. It is also nice not to eat the same thing every day. Still, the dog food is our staple food, the thing we have the most. This is why it is important more dog food was purchased. I like this.

Prince William and Pups

Prince William of Wales, who is next in line to the British (and many more) throne, has celebrated his birthday with the pups that his Cocker Spaniel bitch has just recently had.

Prince William’s grand mother, Queen Elizabeth II, was known as a breeder of Welsh Corgis. It is nice to know that the future King is also a dog breeder.

Midsummer

It is the middle of summer. There can be no more daylight than now. We celebrate this as Midsummer in Sweden and neighbouring countries.

Paula and Daniel had a bygger serving of pickled herring than they ate. Morran gladly ate this. Pepe and I did not like it, but Morran did. I am glad for her.

A Little Rain

When we got out for the night, a few raindrops fell from the sky. We were afraid that it would start to rain, so we hurried inside. It did not start to rain, though.

It can be quite comfortable to be inside, hearing the rain falling outside. Since no rain started to fall, we could not hear this sound. It is comfortable in our house, nevertheless, but Ihad hoped to hear the rain.

It is Midsummer Eve tomorrow. Rain seem to be common on Midsummer Eve. We have to see if this will be the case this year. It can be comfortable to celebrate Midsummer Eve indoors while the rain is falling outdoors.

City Council

Daniel is a member of the city council. They have the monthly meeting today and tomorrow. It is usually just one day, but this month, it is two days so they will have the time to discuss the budget for 2026 as well as a lot of other items.

The meeting inspires Daniel to write in his blog. I find the meetings too boring to listen to, so I normally write about other, more interesting things. This blog post is an exception. I will find something else to write about tomorrow. Stay tuned!

Political Murder in Mexico

A mayor of a municipality in Mexico has been shot dead. The murderers stormed a village hall where the mayor had a meeting. Two police officers were also injuried.

This is not the first political murder in the area this year.

Every murder is a tragedy. A political murder, however, is not just an attack on the person herself, but an attack on the whole community and the democratic system through which she has been elected. In this sense, a political murder is worse than many other murders.

We feel for the family of the killed mayor, the whole municipality, and her dogs, if she had any.

Preview of Midsummer Eve

For dinner tonight, Paula made a preview of the dinner for Midsummer Eve. There were pickled herring, salmon, eggs, cheese, and sauce. Daniel said he quite liked it.

Midsummer Eve is this Friday. It is oneof the great annual celebrations in Sweden, when we celebrate the Summer Solstice. Good food is a main part of the celebration. This is the part that allofoner us dogs love the most. Good food is marvelous.

I look forward to Midsummer Eve.

Fourth Time

Daniel mowed the lawn today. It was the fourth time this season, and the first time in June.

The mowing was needed, he had not mowed it in two and a half weeks. Now it is easier for us dogs to run around on the lawn again. Chihuahuas are small, we cannot deny this, and we like a well kept lawn.

The Seven Samurais

If Hailey or Polly would have still been in charge of the blog that Hailey started, it would probably be more blog entries about Japan and Japanese culture. It was, when they took care of the blog. As Shibas, they were more interested in the land of their ancestors than I will ever be. There are instances when I return to Japan in the blog, just because of Hailey and Polly. Today is one of those instances.

Tonight on Swedish television, SVT2 at 22.15, you can watch The Seven Samurais. This is a classic Japanese movie. I do not know much about it and I have never seen it myself, but it is so well known that I thought I would have to mention it in this blog. After all, iris a Shiba blog that I am just a care taker of.

If you are interested in classic movies and have access to SVT2, do watch that movie tonight. Hailey and Polly would have wanted you to.

Came Home

Daniel has been away from home for a few days, in the line of duty. He came home today. We all gathered around him and felt togetherness. It was the best thing that happened today.

Life is always best when we are all together at home.

The Sun Is Shining

The Sun is shining and it is warm weather. I like summer days like this.

Of course, Pepe and I agree that it could be even warmer. We would not mind some even warmer days. Swedish summers are all right, but we are decendants of dogs from Mexico. We could stand days as warm as they can be there. Do not ever come to us and complain that the weather in Sweden may be too hot. I have never experienced this in Sweden, and I think I never will.

Let there be more days like this, this summer!

Borders for Pets

New rules make it easier to travel with pets between Great Britain and Northern Ireland. While both places are parts of the United Kingdom, Northern Ireland has other rules for crossing the land border it shares with the Republic of Ireland.

This is not the only instance where the travel with pets follow different rules than travels without pets. The reason for special rules is normally to ensure the health of pets. It is still difficult for us, who are pets, that there are special rules for us. It is for travels between Sweden and Norway, as well. I wish pet health would be so good everywhere, that borders would be open for us.

Qualifiers

World Cup qualifiers are on for net year’s football World Cup.

Of course, Mexico is already qualified, since it is one of the host countries. Pepe and I can spend the time hoping a little for Sweden and follow the results without being nervous. This feels good.

Sweden just played a friendly game tonight, versus Algeria. Qualifying results were more interesting.

Attempted Political Murder in Colombia

A Colombian Senator has been shot and is in serious condition at an intensiv care unit of a hospital in Bogotà. The Senator, Miguel Uribe Turbay, had hopes to become a candidate for the presidency. In Colombia, people get negative memories of a time not long ago with many more political murders and political violence.

We are glad Paula and her sister were able to move away from Colombia, where they were born, and settle in Sweden.

Ring Stewards in Askersund

Daniel is responsible for contracting ring stewards to the Askersund Dog Show. He was done doing this a while ago, but there is always the risk that something will have to change.

Late last night, Daniel read a message from one of the ring stewards with whom he had a contract. She wrote that she will not be able to make it. However, she had recruited another ring steward who could take her place at the dog show. This is the best kind of message that you will not be able to work, Daniel said. He contacted the new ring steward just to make sure he can send her a contract.

Ring stewards are important for dog shows. It seems like this change of ring stewards will turn out well. I am glad it will.

Not Much

Not much happened today. We just had a day off, everyone of us.

It is nice to have a day off once in a while. There are so many things you must do most days, that you can skip on a day off. This is what we did today.

Meatball Celebration

We celebrated Sweden’s national holiday today with meatballs. It hardly get better, tastier, ormroten Swedish than that.

Sweden is known around the world for Swedish meatballs. This is what we had. It was great.

Long live Sweden!

Thursday, June 05, 2025

National Eve

Daniel pointed out that iris the Swedish national holiday tomorrow, and that this means that it is National Eve today.

Swedes normally celebrate holidays on the eve before the day. This is true for Easter Eve, Walpurgis Eve, Midsummer Eve, Christmas Eve, and New Year’s Eve. Thus, Daniel says, we should celebrate National Eve this eve.

We did celebrate, with sushi. Not very Swedish, but very tasty. It was good.

Running Around Again

Daniel came home rather late tonight. As soon as he came home, he let us dogs out in the yard.

While both Pepe and I ran to get out, Pepe also ran around, once he was outside. Morran and I took it easy.

Once you have made it out and been able to do what you want to do, Morran and I see no point in running around again. Pepe enjoyed it, though. To each, what he or she likes. Running around again may be fun sometimes, but Pepe likes it more than me or Morran do.

Tuesday, June 03, 2025

Open Door Policy

Daniel worked from home today. In the afternoon, it was warmer outside than inside the house, so Daniel left the door open. We could walk out and in as much as we wanted. Morran enjoyed sitting outside in the sun.

The negative thing with this open door policy, was that some buzzing flying insects found their way inside. Daniel was really annoyed with this. When these insects had finally made their way out again, Daniel closed the door to prevent more insects to come in. This was a disappointment, especially for Morran. All of these insects who bugs us in the summer, are the only real downside with the season.

We enjoyed the open door policy while it lasted.

Monday, June 02, 2025

Open Window

It is warm enough outside now, that we can have an open window in the bedroom for a long time and it does not get colder. One of the windows was open for a long time. A little while after Daniel had closed it, Paula asked if it was still open. You could not sense any immediate change. It was nice to get a little fresh air in, though.

Now we just have to wait for the summer days when it is definitely warmer outdoors than indoors. There are never many such days in a Swedish summer, but we cherish the ones there are.

Sunday, June 01, 2025

A Few Meatballs

While we always have a decent amount of dog food, there is not always more food given. Today, Daniel gave us a few meatballs, though.

Even though we did not get more than a few meatballs, it was always something. You should not complain that you get just a few meatballs, when you do have a lot of other food and the alternative could be no meatballs.

Life is good with a few meatballs.

Complaints

When Daniel vacuumed today, Paula complained over the noise. This is a weird complaint. The vacuuming is done to keep the floors clean. It is better for paws and feet with a clean floor. I am not fond of the noise of the vacuum cleaner either, but I do not complain over it.

Friday, May 30, 2025

A Day Off

It was a national holiday yesterday, in memory of Christ’s ascention into Heaven. Thus, many people take this Friday off, since it is one day between the holiday and the free weekend. This year, both Paula and Daniel took the day off. They generally just took it easy. So did all of us dogs. They also had a few arguments, but none of us dogs had. Besides the arguments, it was a nice day.

Thursday, May 29, 2025

Third Time

This afternoon, Daniel mowed the lawn for the third time this season.

Daniel and I have made a deal that I will write in the blog about every time he mows the lawn this year. This is so we can remember how many times he does it. We have often lost count other years, because we have not thought of keeping a record of the count. This season, we do.

We are glad the lawn is mowed. For small dogs like us, it is easier to move around on a well kept lawn. It also diminishes the risk of ticks, which is good.

Wednesday, May 28, 2025

Funeral

Paula and Daniel went to a funeral in Stockholm today. It takes a while to go there and back, but they wanted to go. It was the funeral of Daniel’s mother. We all wish her a safe after-life.

Tuesday, May 27, 2025

Blankets

Paula’s blanket fell on the floor, so she took Daniel’s blanket. Then Daniel came to the bed, saw that he did not have any blanket, and took a new blanket for his bed. I guess he did not realise Paula had taken the blanket from his bed, because he did no effort to take it back. Morran suggested he just did not want to pick a fight over blankets, and maybe this is true. He never told us, he just brought a new blanket. It was nice to have the new blanket to rest upon.

Slugs

When it rains, the slugs appear. The killer slugs, that is, also called Spanish slugs, because they are probably originally from the Iberian peninsula. There are too many of this invasive species here, so Daniel does what he can to take them away. He says there are fewer this year than last, but after the rain this evening, he picked out a whole lot of them. Paula dislike the slugs even more, so she lets Daniel take care of them. All of us dogs also let Daniel do it, even though we agree that the yard is better of without these slugs. If only they were tasty and edible, there would be some use for them.

Volcano

Our World is a fascinating place. There are volcanoes here and there, though fortunately far from where we live. We may complain about rain or cold weather, but it would not be fun to have a volcano erupt in our backyard.

A volcano recently erupted in Hawaii. It is fascinating to watch the pictures from it.

The Occasional Rain

We got a little rain on and off today.

Occasional rain like this can be disturbing. You go out into the sunshine, and it suddenly starts to rain, then it stops, and starts again. It is better to have a day when you know rain is falling.

Rain is good for nature. We also need rain to fill up our well. It is still annoying to have rain falling on you when you are outside. Rain is better when you are under the roof of the house.

Bronze

Sweden did not qualify for the final of the ice hockey World Championship. In the bronze game, however, Sweden won. For the second year in a row, Sweden won bronze. It is not as much as gold or silver, but it is not bad.

Saturday, May 24, 2025

Out in the Semi

Team America won the World Championship semi final versus Sweden today. We were all disappointed. America may be a neighbour of Mexico, where my breed is from, but this does not mean I support America more than necessary. I certainly prefer Sweden, where I live, before America.

Life is still nice. Ice hockey is exciting, but just a little entertainment.

Intermission

There have been several days now, since I last posted a blog entry. Hailey and Polly would have been disappointed with me. Still, it is not quite my blog, I am just a custodian before another heir of Hailey and Polly can take over.

There last few days, I just felt like I needed an intermission from the duty to make daily blog entries. I did ask Morran, Pepe, and even Orange, if they wanted to be guest writers, but they did not volunteer.

Well, now I am up for the daily blogging again, so stay tuned. More will come.

Rules

Next week, Paula and Daniel will work as ring stewards at a dog show. This is important.

They have spent a large part of this evening reading and discussing the rules on the dog breeds of the ring where they will serve. The rules are not very complicated, but it is important to be sure about them before the show.

We hope everything will go well at the show.

United Again

Daniel has been away on a trip to Stockholm for a few days. He came back home in the middle of the day today. We are all united again.

Now we can calm down. There is less reason to thoroughly protect the house, when Daniel is home and can help us do this.

Life is at its best, when everyone is at home.

Injuried Eye

Paula has hurt one of her eyes. She even had to go to the hospital to let them flush something out from the eye.

Morran and Orange say they understand Paula. They both have injuries in one eye since way back.

The Eurovision Song Contest is tonight, but you do not have to see to listen to the songs.

Friday, May 16, 2025

Visit from Orange

Our Shiba friend Orange arrived today. She will stay with us for a while.

Orange is a nice and friendly Shiba. We like to have her here. She has not done much here today, but more will happen, we are sure.

Mourning

We had to comfort Paula tonight. Once in a while, she gets distraught by the passing of a dog. Tonight, she mourned the loss of our bygone friend Viola.

All of us miss Viola. We can mourn together. This makes the mourning easier to bear.

It is a tribute to the memory of Viola, when we mourn her. We all appreciate this. My hope is that we have a happier day tomorrow, though.

Going In and Going Out

Our Cats are odd in some ways. They may be outdoors all night, then come back indoors in the morning. Just a little later, they may want to go outside again.

I have never understood the urge to stay outside like this. It is always cozier and more restful indoors, I believe. Then again, cats are of a different species. We may not be meant to understand everything about each other. Life is good anyway.

Tuesday, May 13, 2025

Worried

When we were outside for the evening, a scent reached us. It was a scent that made us worry. We feared there was a big predator nearby.

This is the downside of living near nature. It is nice with all the trees and small birds, but we could do without visits from big predators.

Peruvian Pope

The new Pope of the Roman Catholic Church, Leo XIV, has lived and worked for many years in Peru. He is a Peruvian citizen as well as an American citizen. In Peru, they consider him one of them. In a way, Leo XIV is, thus, a Peruvian Pope, as well as an American Pope.

Peru is a Latin American country. Pepe and I, who are of a breed from another Latin American Catholic country, Mexico, like this. Peru is a country we feel some kinship with. This is nice.

Second Mowing of the Lawn

Daniel mowed the lawn today. This was the second time he mowed it this season. We agreed last time that we would keep track of how many times he mowes the lawn this season, by writing about it in this blog.

It is amazing how the grass grows this time of the year. We guess it is time to do it again in a couple of weeks.

Daniel told us there had been a few drops of rain when he was mowing the lawn. He kept mowing, however, and the rain stopped. This was good, if there is a lot of rain, the grass cannot be mowed properly.

Desecration of Graves

We had reason to think of the disrespectful practice of desecration of graves.

When humans or their pets pass away, humans bury the remains. This is a way to preserve the earthly remains and show respect for it.

If someone else desecrates the grave, for instance by unearthing the remains, this is very disrespectful. We do not wish this will happen to anybody.

IIHF World Championship

The IIHF World Championship in ice hockey has started.

Sweden won its game versus Austria today, though it was not such a great victory as one could have expected. Austria led for a while, before Sweden came back and won, 4–2. Sweden is supposed to be a much better team than Austria, when it comes to ice hockey. Daniel says, however, that Sweden often plays one or two games in the start of the World Championship that are not good, but that it turns better further on. We hope so.

Morran roots for Germany. Pepe and I root for Sweden, since Mexico is not good enough to play in the top tournament. Germany and Sweden plays in different groups, we will see if the two meet.
