A Sister

Hello, Gerstuhl here! (Also known as Li’l Gertrud.)

This evening, Momoko and I got to go with Paula and Daniel to my sister Soya. Soya lives in the countryside with Paula’s sister Mia and her family. I have met Soya before, she is a nice dog and we played in the garden tonight as well. It was a nice evening.

Boring Weather

You would not think you could be bored by terrific weather, but I am. We have had warm and sunny days for a very long time now. Even though my winter coat is long gone, I think it would be nice to have some days with a little cooler weather and some rain during the nights.

On the other paw, I have been told it was a hot and sunny summer in 1994, when Sweden went far in the World Cup. Perhaps the good weather is a good omen for the World Cup this summer. I hope so.

Two Different Forms of Water

One would think that all water is the same. It is made of the water molecule, of one oxygene and two hydrogene atoms. However, scientists have now been able to prove there are two different types of water molecules, that differs due to the spin of the atom nuclei. The chemical reactions are slightly different.

It seems like wherever you smell, and think things are the same, difference can still be found.

An Answer

My dear daughter Karstuhl asked me if I was really honouring Mum, her Grandmum, from my very first Mother’s Day. Well, of course I did. I was at a dog show, honouring my Mum by becoming Best of Breed Puppy. I cannot think of any better way to honour your parents and pedigree, than being successful at a dog show. Quod errat demonstrandum.

Mother’s Day

Hello, Karstuhl here!

It is Mother’s Day today. I have celebrated Mommy accordingly, while showing my daughter Li’l Gertrud how it is done. Li’l Gertrud is not a keen learner, however. She is a good daughter, but it seems Mother’s Day is not her cup of tea. She would rather just play around, like the puppy she still is.

I said to Mommy I was a bit disappointed Li’l Gertrud was not as great a daughter that I had been. Mommy thought this was funny, however, telling me I had just as small interest in Mother’s Day when I was her age. She then said she been good to Granny from her very first Mother’s Day.

It may be true that I was not a great daughter on my first Mother’s Day. I doubt Mommy’s statement on her own first Mother’s Day, though. Why would Mommy have been so much better than both me and my daughter? I think she is just pulling my leg. Perhaps she will make a comment here in her blog? We will have to see. Stay tuned!

Hot Weather

It has been warm and sunny for serveras days in a row now. There is not a rain drop in sightseeing, not for the coming weekend either. We thought of preparing the grill and have a barbecue, but it is almost too warm for that. Cold food would taste better. I would suggest beef tartar, it is always a hit for me.

Unrealistic TV Show

We watched a Swedish TV show tonight: Morden i Sandhamn, Murder in Sandhamn. It was unrealistic. One of the police officers had been hurt and was at the hospital, and her dog was taken care of. When her colleague, who had made the arrangements for the dog, came to visit her, she did not ask about the dog. This is unrealistic. A dog lover would ask about her dog, the first thing she would do. I did not like this. Poor dog!

Birthday

It is Daniel’s birthday today. We have celebrated him and congratulated him. Still, it is not a birthday that can be evenly divided with seven, so it is not possible to compare it to a dog’s birthday. We wish Daniel a nice birthday anyway.

Early Morning

Usually, when we get up earlier than usual in a weekday, it is because Daniel must go away early in the line of duty. This morning, Paula was going away early.

I like it Mich better, when we get upreally early in the morning on a weekend. This is always because we will go to a dog show. Dog shows are the best.

We got back to sleep, once Paula and then Daniel had left for work. This is a perk of being a dog.

Gold

Sweden won the ice hockey gold again. I am happy about it.

I would not have been very sad, had Switzerland won. The Swiss team would have deserved it and will likely get feber chances in more finals in the future. With many other opponents of Switzerland, Iwould have rooted for Switzerland, but not when they faced Sweden. Given Switzerland’s normal results, their silver is a greater effort than the Swedish gold.

The USA won the bronze game versus Canada, which pleases me, as semi American.

Victory in the Semi Final

Sweden won its semi final against the USA in the IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship. It was a devastating loss for the USA, Sweden won 6-0. While I am glad for the victory, I am also a little sorry for my American relatives. This is one of those times, when my American Mum would point out that she was not into sports.

Missing Dad

Yesterday was the national holiday of Norway. I was always reminded of this, when Dad was alive. He was born in Bergen, Norway, and his mother was also born in Norway. Even though he lived his whole adult life in Sweden, he stayed a Norwegian at heart. He always rooted for Norway in sports. He always celebrated the 17th of May. Dad has been gone for many years, he cannot remind me of his national holiday anymore. Dad was a great father and friend. How I miss him! 💞

Sweden v. USA

Sweden will Facebook the USA in the World Championship semifinal. I always root for Sweden, but Mum was from the USA and would have rooted for the USA. Part of me would like to see the USA win, for Mum’s sake. Life is not easy for fans of national sport tournaments, when you have family ties to many countries.

No Games

The Group in the Ice Hockey World Championship are finished. There are no games played today. Quarter finals will be played tomorrow. We would have wanted to watch games tonight, but we have to wait.

Sweden will play Latvia. It looks like a fairly easy game, but you can never be sure. I hope Sweden will win.

Pod

Some people chose not to use a blog to express themselves, but a pod. It is like radio on the Internet. You cannot read it, but listen to it. This is nothing for me. I prefer to write. Besides, as a dog, I do not have the voice for a pod. The blog is great as it is. Stay tuned for more text in my blog!

Warm Weather

It is, suddenly, summer. We are stillin May. Winter held out well into April. Spring was short.

My many years of life experience have taught me, that weather can never be taken for granted. If we have summer now, with blazing sunshine, we still may have colder days with wins and rain next week. This makes life more interesting, whichis always good. I like the changes in weather.

Show

Hello, Li'l Gertrud here!

We were at a dog show today. I was very excited, it is an adventure. Paula and Daniel asked me to be cool. I can be cool, I thought, so I was. It was fun, but I would like to have won. There will be more shows, I will win in the future. This will be even more fun.

Eurovision Song Contest

It is the night of the Eurovision Song Contest. The competition does not start until 9 p.m. This means the results are not reported until after midnight. So far, I have not heard all the songs and have no favourite. I hope Sweden does OK, at least.

Memory

I had a great idea for a blog post, I think, but before I got around to writing anything, I forgot my great idea. Isn't it annoying when this happens? I wish I had a better memory.

Flight

We did not fly today. We did, however, celebrate that Christ flew up to Heaven this day, 40 days after Easter Day.

Holidays are nice, you can take it easy. There are not so many duties to fulfill. I like this.

Paula worked night before this day and after it. I came along, when Daniel drove Paula to work. I think my presence in the back of the car helped Paula and Daniel; it usually does.

Europe Day

The 9th of May is Europe Day. This is a day when we can celebrate European unity. I think European unity has led to many good things, such as taking away mandatory quarantine for dogs coming from many other countries to Sweden. This is, of course, also due to better vaccines, allowing for more open borders, but the political unity is important. I just wonder what will happen. The United Kingdom is on its way to lesse the EU, to the benefit of noone. Will this be the besinning of the end to the latent attempt to unify Europe? I hope not, and believe not. I will miss the UK, however.

Warm Night

Summer is almost here. We have had a warm day and sunshine. It is still warm now, when night is here. Luckily, we have clean sheets in the bed tonight. This helps when it is warm, I think. Life is good.

Ice Hockey World Championship

It is May, thus, it is time for the IIHF World Championship in ice hockey.

Some people say it is wrong to play ice hockey this late in the season, when summer is around the corner. I have never experienced an ice hockey world championship in any other time of the year, however, so I do not mind.

Sweden has started well, with three victories. Granted, two of them were against the weaker nations Belarus and France. The second was against Czechia, however, a great ice hockey nation and a formidable foe. This was a nice victory.

I hope Sweden wins the gold, like last year.

The First World War

We watch reruns of Downton Abbey on Sunday nights. The show is now about events in 1916, during the First World War. It was a horrible time. The show is interesting.

Unofficial Show

Daniel went to a dog show nearby today. He worked as a ring steward. This was a show I did not mind missing. The show was unofficial. I am a multi show champion, I do not have anything to doon an unofficial show. These shows are great for less experienced dogs or handlers, they learn from these shows. I do not need to go there, though.

May the Fourth

It is May the fourth. Some people celebrate the Star Wars movies this day, from the quote: "may the force (be with you)", in the movies. I do not really like these movies, there are no dogs in them.

Birthday

Today was the birthday of Paula’s sister Mia. My granddaughter Soya lives with her. Paula and Daniel went there for the party. It was a great party, as far as I have understood.

Mia is a very nice human, who deserves all the well wishes and presents she can get.

Happy birthday, Mia!

Paula Will Be Better

Paula was at the emergency room at the hospital today. She has had trouble with an infection, but it is better now. She has an open wound that needs to heal, but it is getting better.

We all give the very best support for Paula that we can. We wish that she will heal quickly and that her problems will surely be over now.

First of May

It is the first of May and a holiday in Sweden. Social Democrats go out to protest against the Social Democratic government, even the Prime Minister and the other ministers take part in the protests. I have never understood why.

Meanwhile, we have just taken it easy. All of us slept until late. It was very nice, much better than walking in the rain to protest against yourself. We are doing great.
