When Japan joined the fight in the Second World War, almost noone in Britain knew Japanese. They
made sure to teach some young men the language, though. This was a good thing about the war. Knowing the language of others make you understand them better and the post war relations were improved by this. I cannot help bit wonder whether it has had any influence on the breeding of Japanese dogs in Britain, like Shibas. It would be interesting if this was the case, but I am sure it is hard to tell.
